Very neat and clean place with a homely atmosphere.Convieniently located near the IGI airport .We reached little late at night and had piping hot food ready for us.The surroundings are peaceful and noisefree.Would definitely stay here on my future trips to Delhi.

This place is certainly out of the way, but if you've spent a few days in Delhi (or worse, paharganj) that will be a redeeming factor! We took the airport express metro for 2$USD all the way to sector 21 (30 mins from new delhi center). We took a rickshaw from metro using the directions "sector 23, 27b near CNG gas and syndicate bank). rickshaw should probably cost 30, we paid 80! but it's only a few minutes ride. There is a HUGE sign out front, and yes, no reception to speak of but who cares! the rooms are clean and modern and well appointed, there was a clean bathroom with a TUB, flat screen TVs and little balconies. There is a small shopping mall within a 2 minutes walk, with food and a fruit/veg market and pharmacies and basic stuff. The hotel will arrange a free car taxi to take you to and from metro, and again, new airport line though more expensive, will have you to the heart of delhi in 25 minutes! The breakfast was good, there is a water cooler with filtered water, FREE wifi/computer with internet...really, best value for an airport stay.

Room Tip: only one room has a double bed, rest are twins...

Thank you dear guest for your detailed review. You have obviously spent some time in Delhi and know what you are writing about.

We feel hard earned money should be spent on food ,shopping , sightseeing and getting the Indian experience rather than on expensive hotel rooms. Our aim is to provide a clean and comfortable room at excellent value - the title of your review.

Thank you again. Its reviews such as yours which make our job such a wonderful one. Very gratifying indeed.

hi u there, do u have an exam/interview/workshop etc etc scheduled for delhi & dont know where to stay in comfort with affordable rates? i would strongly recommend colonel's retreat at airport which is actually in the vicinity of the airport & yet though hard to believe it IS affordable.they have a couple of other branches also in the city. i had an interview yesterday at a hotel in dwarika & was desperate for a suitable accom till the last moment as i had to come from Lko. my sister found it on the internet with unbelievable rates of 1800/-per day/night.what is more they also picked me up from the airport, dropped me to the interview venue -their taxi service is also prompt as like other services, the staff are very helpful right now i am coming from the vardhaman mall nearby where a staff member took me & got the photocopies done. so those who have work in delhi may think of this place seriously. all they have to do is to carry a photo ID with them.

Really lovely place to stay in a very peaceful neighbourhood. It was a serene area which is obviously a rarity in India. The staff were fantastic. Victor is legendary. He waited at the airport for well over an hour as our flight was delayed to pick us up. He even helped us look up our flight to see which terminal our flight was leaving from the next day. Airport transfer was well priced at the end as well. The meal was of a rather nice home-cooked type aesthetic. We've been to about a dozen hotels over the past couple of weeks and the service here really stood out for us. And the room was... excellent! Very clean and spacious.

I too find the airport pickup a trifle expensive but we have to pay for very expensive airport parking and even though we charge just the bare cost it still costs Rs 700 for a pickup and Rs 500 for a drop.

However on the Airport express its much cheaper at about Rs 20 per person and also takes only 2 minutes.Of course only when the Airport express is working does this make sense.

Thank you for your lovely review anyway..

I had flash backs of Beirut as we arrived outside this hotel!
There was nobody around to great us at the reception or the desk in a garage! We had to make our way up stairs to find someone and when we did nobody knew what we were refereing to when we asked if this place was the colonels retreat. We were eventually shown to a room by Victor, asked to complete the booking register.
This hotel appears to be a refuge for homeless men, the communal area was full of them eating tea and breakfast the next morning, however we were the only people staying there according to the register.
The photos on the web site and on TA are very misleading, for starters, they dont show the lizards and mice running around. The noise from outside was constant all night and it was not much better from inside the hotel either. At 04.30 the kitchen staff come in and seem to make as much noise as possible, absolutely no consideration for the guests at all.
We asked Victor if there was anywhere local that we could have our evening meal, he very kindly took us acroos to the 'mall', unfortunatly we were not impressed and quickly made our way back.
We can't comment on the breakfast as to be honest we could not wait to get out of the place.
I have spent some nights in rough city centre hostels but nothing compares to this place.
Granted we had clean towels and bedding but thats as far as it goes.
My advice........Stay away!!

Room Tip: Sleep on the runway, you will get more sleep

Regretfully Sir it is your review which is miselading. Maybe we caught you in a bad mood or did something silly but I as the owner with due humility can not agree with you .

Therer is a large board outside which says who we are- so why would you come inside and question some one about where you are.

Anyway, you refer to Beirut- again i dont know why- if you have been to Beirut- its a beautiful place with even more beautiful people !!! Your reference is misleading.

On the day you were with us - we were completely full and had a large number of guests - a very good sign i would say - but you choose to call our other guests Homeless men- isnt that misleading - arent we all somewhat homeless when we travel !!!

We requested you to shift to a less busy floor but you refused saying you had to leave very early in the morning and it really didnt matter. Then you go on to say you left early because you didnt like the place- isnt that misleading !

You didnt even like th e very popular restaurant in the mall near our place. That too seems to be our fault.

Our rooms are exaclty as they are in the photos - nothing misleading about that i assure you.

We have a clean comfortable and extremely affordable place . Of course we do meke mistakes - but i have to submit ,it is your review which is misleading and unfortunately a little illogical. However i am sorry I was not able to make you happy on your short stay. I hope you give me another chance and I will try and go above and beyond your expecftations.

Decided to stay here overnight as we were leaving early the next morning on an internal flight to Varanasi. We arrived at Delhi Rail Station from Agra at about 9.30PM and booked a pre paid taxi.We had to phone the hotel several times for directions as the taxi driver didn't have a clue where it was and finally checked in at about 11.00. The room was clean & comfortable and breakfast was ok.Don't know if Domestic Terminal is furthur than International or not but it was a good 30 minutes taxi drive. If I were doing something similar again would probably stay at an airport hotel and save on pretty expensive taxi fares as I could probably get a metro direct. That said it is good value for money if you have the time and are travelling light enough to get the nearby metro.

We are a 2 minute Metro ride from Terminal 3 and then a 4 minute car ride.Total cost under $ 4.00

By car from Terminal 3- we are about 15 minutes as you have to go around the Runway which is 6 kms long.. Total cost $ 14

From the New Delhi Railway station - we are a 18 minute Metro Ride on the Metro Express - this would cost about $ 2 per person.

Most cab drivers in Delhi are migrants - YOU must know directions or they are as clueless as you are.

Our directions are very simple and if you can let your cab driver have them you will save yourself needless hassle . They are:

Sector 21 Dwarka Metro Station- 1.5 km
Sector 23 Police Station- 500 meters
Vardhman Mall- 300 meters
CNG gas station- 100 meters
Syndicate Bank - 75 meters

If you can give the directions in the sequence above , i can assure you that you will reach our place in the shortest possible time .

I, along with my 15 relatives, stayed at Colonel's retreat for a couple of days. We had gathered for a family function and had booked 2 floors at this place. The stay was very comfortable to say the least. The entire set-up is clean; most rooms are spacious and well lit; lobby area is a nice sit-out place with wooden flooring and sofas placed on all floors. For additional bedding, they offer proper matress, which is commendable. The owner is quite flexible and helpful in addressing the requirements of the guests. If you have your own vehicles, then this place is easily accessible. It is no hotel by any means, so don't expect a hotel like ambience. However, you will not be disappointed by the set-up and what this place offers. I always choose my place of stay after thorough research, and I must say that I am quite satisfied with this place. A simple, no-frills and comfortable place for stay. I shall also want to thank Tripadvisor for providing such a quality, comprehensive service in this field.

Room Tip: There are two properties next to each other. Rooms in 27B are slightly better coz they overlook a pa...
