I first looked in at Metropolis in 2008 and it's come a very long way since then!

The rooms are amazing, bathrooms outstanding and the service professional and attentive (none of that awkward being followed/stared at/nocking on the door 18 times a day stuff you get at most budget places! The location is perfect for Paharganj also - right on main bazaar.

The only slight let down is the roof top restaurant (which I've eaten at many times in 2008, 2010 and 2012) has decided to go upmarket and I found the prices higher but the food quality lower,

We stayed here 2 nights. Good location, great staff (except for breakfast), very nice rooms!

A little pricy for a guest house but it was certainly heaven after 3 weeks in the Himalayas! I will certainly come back here !

The Metropolis Guesthouse is new, clean and modern. Very comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms, flat screen t.v. and all the comforts you would expect. Pricey for the Parganj but worth every penny. The staff was great. Although there is no restaurant on site, food is delivered to the room very quickly from their sister hotel just down the block and it is very good. It was cold when I was there and a space heater was provided at no extra charge. The hotel is just off the Main Bazzar down a side street so you don't get as much noise but are still very close to all the shops and restaurants. If you are feeling a little travel weary or sick of not great lodgings - check it out. Worth the splurge!

Nice, modern looking rooms with heating, western toilets, and hot showers. Flat screen TV. Nice, clean bathroom but the lighting was too dim and could be easily improved. The breakfast was included and was served at Metropolis Tourist Home which is a 5 minute walk from there and has a very good restaurant on its rooftop. It's pricier than the average in that neighborhood, but you get what you pay for and it's definitely worth the price. Staff is nice and courteous.

Nice, modern looking rooms with heating, western toilets, and (truly) hot showers. Flat screen TV. Nice, clean bathrooms. The hotel also has a good restaurant and is right on Pahar Ganj. I would stay there again!

Not on the cheap end for Pahar Ganj but the rooms look very modern, clean and spacious with both air/con and ceiling fan (although it can be dangerous: read below). The good points stops here.

I have vowed never to return to this hotel, which made my stay in Delhi a nightmare.
There was noise day and night: work outside during the day and nearly nonexistent noise insulation in the rooms.

We stayed on the second floor and additionally to hearing the loud TV watched by the receptionist at night (he turned it down when I came to ask - at 23.00), any discussion in the stairs and corridor can be heard quite clearly in the room.
It was probably unlucky that a panicked and rude German tourist happened to lose his passport one night and ran up and down, shouting until 1 o'clock. When politely asked to consider other trying to sleep, he got upset and proceeded to bang chairs on the floor to make more noise! (I was just below his room). Not the hotel's fault of course (except for the noise insulation) but when woken up the next day at 6 o'clock by the discussions of a group leaving at that time, the night had been very frustrating: make sure to bring your earplugs.

The next day, I nearly got electrocuted when touching a (high) lamp appliance: the whole metallic structure around the bulb sent me a shock and I jumped back 2 meters! I could still feel it in my arm after a few hours...

Worst was management's behavior (they usually can be found in the Metropolis restaurant just around the corner and owned by the same people) when reporting these issues. They got really stand-off-ish and accused me of "discriminating" against them because "they were Indians" and I was "picking on small things that also happen in your country". They simply sat back, listened (and ignored) to my complaints without giving any commercial gesture (I was initially enquiring for the possibility of not paying two breakfasts that I did/would not have because of one night spent in Agra and one very early checkout). I left them in very bad terms with the impression of not being considered, after a nightmare experience

I still went back on my last night to have dinner at the restaurant and one of the managers was there (the less arrogant one in the discussion described above). I did not speak to him but when I asked for the bill, the dinner was kindly offered to us. Far from making up for my awful experience in this hotel, this still left a positive note.

Room Tip: avoid second floor: noise from street and reception TV late at night
