“Hotel Cabana...miles away from a boutique hotel”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Boutique hotels are generally referred to as design hotels or lifestyle hotels Hotel Cabana although very intimate didnot have anything to do with lifestyle or design. The most striking in an odd way was the hotel layout. The reception and restaurant were on the same level such that there was no privacy for the restaurant. I must say the staff very extremely courteous.

The rooms are very neat and clean but are extremely small. I ordered some food from Room Service the choices were limited and the room being small did not have a decent space to layout the food. The Paneer dish that I ordered turned out to be worst than what one can get in Gujarat. Very oily food, rotis had distinct rubbery feel!

Bathrooms were extremely ordinary. The room I stayed in had hot water running only intermittently. The wash basin was extremely small.

The breakfast in the morning had very limited choices and the biggest issue of privacy from the reception area. People checking in and at a short distance people having their breakfast. Personally did not enjoy the breakfast at all.

Overall, there is nothing boutique about Hotel Cabana apart from the fact that it is small, cosy and intimate, friendly staff. Only if they improve on the quality of food, create privacy for the restaurant and most importantly offer a value proposition. The basic room goes for Rs. 3500 - 4000 a night which is not a value proposition. I have experience of hotels which are not very far from Hotel Cabana located in East of Kailash offering much bigger rooms, similar friendly staff, clean bathrooms and a much larger breakfast spread at a rate of Rs. 3000 a night. At this point, I would not recommend Hotel Cabana.

I have stayed here for 2 nights and I would say that it is good hotel and Value for Money!! In GK you have so many hotels and most of the hotels have issues like bed sheet, pillow cover, bathroom.. I find the hotel room and bathroom neat and clean!!! This is the first thing I look for in any hotel!!!! Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good to start your day though I would look for more continental options in Breakfast!! Overall, It was a satisfactory stay and value for Money!!!

I moved to Cabana after staying at a very crapy hotel around CP If you don´t want to be in the middle of the noise and crazyness of Delhi streets south Delhi is a better option. Cabana has a good location near the M block market at GK1. There is no metro at walking distance but is a 5 min rickshaw. The staff is very nice an friendly althoug their english is not that great, they were always helpful.

The room was really good, modern, spotless with a comfy bed, good internet and cable tv and modern AC. The bathroom was also very good, clean and nicely decorated.

Room service is nothing special the food is only ok and portions are small.

Room Tip: Not on the ground floor I stayed at the second floor and it was pretty good.

All this hotel wishes from you is money. First they will say something and then their version will be different later on. I booked the hotel through Expedia.co.in where it was clearly written in the hotel website about the complimentary breakfast, later on after I did the booking, there was no breakfast included in the voucher. They were like, after the money even during we were having breakfast on 25th May 2012. First deposit the money..and then have your breakfast is their motto, as if we are some kind of rogues running away from somewhere. A hotel can have a superb ambiance, but if the staff working their has such nice manners and attitude, it makes it a place worth staying. I haven't come across such nice hotels anywhere!!! Money..money..money is all they want or else u will be thrown out I suppose

Pro: The location is in a good and quiet neighborhood. It only takes 30 Rupee for the ride from Metro. Few minutes walk to M-Block market. Staff was friendly. They even packed our breakfast to go when we had to go in a hurry. Wireless internet speed is fine. The bed is fine.
Con: It is not easy to find the hotel at first. Tell the driver to get you to R block or near M-Block Market. The room at first floor has small window so not enough natural light is there during the day. Not a problem if you only use the room to sleep at night. The bathroom and the toilet is separated only by curtain therefore after shower the floor is very slippery.

First trip to Delhi: happy to have found a clean, comfortable, friendly place. Good value if a bit out of the way if you need to be in the center. Forever grateful to the staff, as I left behind credit cards, cash, keys, and passport in my room. They kept that all safe for me until I was able to come back to Delhi a month later.
