Colonel's Retreat was our home away from home in a Delhi. The rooms, breakfasts, assistance, friendliness, cleanliness, all were wonderful. We had 3 evening meals there which were superb, especially dinner on the rooftop away from all the Hub-bub of a bust Delhi. We arrived late-ish on our first night so it was very welcome to have home cooked meal waiting for us. They also looked after some unnecessary luggage as we toured further afield in between our stays there. Can't say enough about this place. Easy location, quiet and walkable to shopping and restaurants.

Our experience with the Colonel's Retreat was excellent. We arrived after a long day, having requested in advance that dinner be available. Getting in late, we weren't sure quite what to expect but were more than pleasantly surprised with a terrific meal, complete with beer, wine and a warm welcome from the staff. Meeting Arun at breakfast the next day, we were appreciative of his insights on both what we'd planned with our tour operator, as well as some new ideas on things to see and do in Delhi. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and in a convenient location - great to come home to at the end of a day's touring this interesting city. It was a bonus when we left for Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur to be able to leave some unneeded luggage and to know that we'd be returning to familiar surroundings. We enjoyed two more lovely dinners on the terrace as well as great home made breakfasts each morning.

Really good stay at the Colonel’s Retreat. Brilliant staff, good location with in easy walking distance of the Defence Colony Market for bars and restaurants, good breakfast with nice homemade banana bread. Good exchange rate on money too, just asks the staff. Rooms really comfortable and clean. Would highly recommend.

Excellent, comfortable place to stay in South Delhi. Close to metro so easy to get around. We returned to this accommodation 4 times during our 6 week trip and found it an excellent base. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfasts excellent. In the local area there are many great restaurants and shops as well.
If I returned to Delhi I would not hesitate to stay here again. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Stayed in 4 different rooms, all good.

We spent our initial three nights in Delhi here and also used it as a base to return to after visiting other parts of India. We were able to leave surplus luggage here while we were away.
Conveniently located half way between the airport and the city centre, this small family-run guest house is a delight. The rooms are clean and pleasantly decorated and open onto comfortable communal areas on each floor. Dinner, with excellent home-made fare, is a good option after a day out in the city - you just need to give notice that morning. As the weather was warming up during our stay, we took to having both breakfast and dinner on the pleasant roof terrace which looks out over South Delhi.
All the staff are friendly and eager to help and the owners really made us feel at home. Altogether an excellent experience and a good choice if you are looking for a smaller scale guest house with character and are happy to do without the pretentions and blandness of big modern hotels.

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back, preferably on one of the higher floors

I've stayed at Colonel's Retreat several times and it is always an excellent experience. Clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated/furnished rooms, excellent service from staff, and warm and knowledgeable hosts who are very helpful, very hospitable, and lovely to talk to over breakfast (which is often served on the terrace with great views). The food is delicious and the wi-fi connection is reliable. It is very well situated in a leafy neighbourhood, close (easy walking distance) to the Defency Colony market with excellent and affordable restaurants (try the South Indian Sagar restaurant) and other useful shops including a good bookshop, ATM, news kiosk, grocers, etc. The B&B is within easy walking distance of the Metro (Lajpat Nagar on Violet Line), so it's well connected too, as well as being located near to some of the areas you might want to visit. They're very responsive to queries. It's always my first choice for staying in Delhi and it would be my first recommendation to friends and family too.

Beautifully decorated little bed and breakfast located close to the Defense Colony Market. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This location is just minutes away to some of the premier sights in Delhi. Breakfast was delicious including homemade banana bread and an assortment of homemade marmalade. Upon request this inn will prepare dinner for you and it is delicious. I would recommend staying here and if I return to Delhi, I will be staying here again. FYI - the wifi was the most reliable that I found at any hotel in India!
