I went here as i had some official work in Delhi and this hotel is at one of the most accessible places in Delhi and from here you can visit each part of the city and also the tourist buses for agra fathepur sikhri etc (i.e sight seeing locations)... start from the station which is close by. This is an affordable hotel and not a luxury option. If you want to pamper yourself you better take the Taj group or the Hilton group of hotels. If you come here on a budgeted trip it is a great option to stay. They do not have bell boys, they do not have room service and they do not have spas etc... but they are cheap affordable, value for money, AC's in the rooms are available and also television. All in all a affordable, accessible and great value for money hotel.

I had stayed nearly 7 years in Delhi till 2009. From my experience was really surprised to find this Hotel. Just outside of Ajmeri Gate of New Delhi Railway station barely 2 minutes of walking distance from Reliance Airport Link metro and Delhi Metro. There is DTC Bus station and lots of 3 seater Auto Rikshows. I had stayed there for 3 nights (maximum nights u can book at one instance, please check the present rule). The hotel is very good compared to its rate (1375 INR), location and city. I had previous very pathetic experince with hotels near delhi stations. Those hotels are mostly own by individuals, congested, without basic hygine and
most importantly if you are a couple of young age, their eyes are altogether different. The Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas really performed very well in every count. Firstly its a recognised hotel chain backed by TATA Group, so it has its minimum standards, curtesy and professionalism. The rooms are full of basic things and comfortable. U have running hot-cold water, multi channel TV, in room tea maker with all tea-coffee making ingredients that are filled ever day,a table with a chair and ac. The bed linens were clean n very good. There is in house resto depending on ur pocket, pharmacy and very cordial dedicated people. What I like most is the safety and security of this hotel. There is no grazing eye and no unethical questions about relations if u are married young couple. Its just your Passport and I card etc. Believe me, you wont get better in this budget range in any where in Delhi with such peace of mind. I studied in Delhi, got my first job in Delhi n from my experience its the best in the range....only one thing to notice there is only one bath towel in the room, you have to ask for extra and there is no complimentary water in the room. Management please can look into these aspects to improve further. For sure, I would love to stay here in my next visit in Delhi......

Room Tip: generally station facing rooms are little better........

The hotel is just outside the New Delhi Railway station ( AJMERI GATE SIDE ). Ofcourse one has to walk a little bit to reach the hotel. If you are too tired the 3 wheeler driver will take you there for maximum Rupees 50 and just 2 minutes of ride. If you bargain he may come down to even Rupees 25.

The hotel is a self service hotel with all basic amenities for a comfortable stay. Nothing lavish but all things that one may need for a stay. Like free water bottles, tea/coffee maker. Drinking water and Ironing area on each floor. Besides one small gymnasium as well. Besides there is a decent enough eating place on the reception floor 24/7 which serves a variety of foods.

Of course the biggest surprise is the price ! Compared to any hotel in Delhi this is really CHEAP.

I would recommend it to any one who needs a layover in Delhi or for short stays for work. If you are looking for a holiday hotel then look somewhere else.

I stayed at Ginger and took a hotel taxi to be dropped at New Delhi station which is 100m maximum. The receptionist told he will charge 150rs. The taxi driver took us to Paharganj side of the station which was about 3km and asked for Rs250 saying Dehradun Shatabdi will go from there . so i had to pay Rs500 to the porters and walk all the way back to platform which is just 100m from the hotel. since we were running out of time.. so be carfeful next time u take a word of the hotel staff or taxi

Location:
1. On Ajmeri Gate Side of New Delhi Railway Station.
2. Near the Metro Station entrance from Ajmeri Gate Side.
3. Road leading to hotel is a bit difficult to locate.

Rooms
1. Decent

Checkin-Checkout
1. Checkin 1PM, but they allow by 12 Noon
2. Checkout 11 AM

Food
1. There is a self-service Comesum restaurant at ground floor.
2. The food is costly, ordinary, and very little variety.

Transport
1. You may have to walk a while before you can find a auto after exiting the hotel.
2. Although some random taxis are parked outside hotel gate.

They clean your room even in your absence without even bothering to inform you, so make sure when you step out you have locked up all stuff.

Overall Score: Average.

Many hotels in Paharganj area of delhi offer same service at the same cost. And location is convenient.
