I am surprised to see that one of the members has written that getting a chance to gain entry is still problematic at Saravana Bhavan, at peak hours. I too faced the same difficulty when I visited in Sept 2010. It is there still in May 2013. But as usual the food is good. Service is good. For the diet conscious, as all restaurant foods go...they tend to be on the oily side. I suppose you have to reconcile yourself to that. But they do reduce it when you ask for it when ordering let us say, a Dosa, with less oil. Problem while preparing coconut (Hindi: Naryal) chutney, is that it quickly deteriorates in the hot season. Also a gross difference to the real South Indian experience (i-e. in Tamil Nadu, if you are having the same meal), rice would have been served unlimited, while here it is a la carte. I was surprised. Could have been avoided.
