What an experience. We stayed in Cabana number 1 which is the only one with electricity and is the shortest walk from the dining area and dock. I can’t say enough about the hosts and the food – absolutely delicious! Everything was organic and the meals were gourmet. The best part was taking a hike from La Loma over to Playa Larga. It was a steep, hot, humid, and long hike to the most beautiful isolated beaches on the other side of the island. My only suggestions would be that the beverage policy be explained more clearly and that they allowed more time for us to make our flight out of Bocas. We got to the airport 15 minutes before takeoff and almost didn’t get on the flight.

I surprised my husband and two kids with a vacation at La Loma for five nights in March. It is almost four weeks later and we still talk about it EVERY DAY! What an incredible experience. Margaret and Henry are so kind and very interesting to talk to. They are incredibly upbeat and cheerful and are quick to attend to your every need. Our rancho was immaculate, tastefully decorated and had the most incredible view. It was so cool to be in the shower and watch monkeys frolicking in the trees. At night our rancho was a cozy retreat from the rest of the world. We looked forward to every meal for the freshness of the food and the beautiful presentation. Henry always gave a brief recap at dinner of what was on the menu for that night. We were introduced to fine food that we had never sampled before. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and always eager to please. The hard part of the trip?? - well, it was saying goodbye to Henry, Margaret, baby Lucho and the staff. The intimacy of being so secluded with your hosts made us feel we were saying good bye to friends. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for adventure and doing a vacation off the beaten track.

La Loma Lodge is an incredible place. Henry and Margaret have created a thoughtful, beautiful and unique destination in the middle of the jungle. The attention to detail is pervasive and impressive. This is a rustic experience that has so many elegant touches. The simple cabins have fresh tropical flowers, the wooden pathways are lined with lush tropical plants and flowers. There arejust too many touches of Margaret's increible sense of style to detail. The food is amazing, incorporating local ingredients with a careful and attractive pesentation. Again, La Loma goes the extra-mile with different homemade bread every day, the farm fresh organic eggs, and delivering the delicious coffee and fresh muffins to our door every morning.

We stayed with our three kids ages 1, 10 and 12 and it was the highlight of their trip. Before we arrived, Margaret, Henry and the staff had put nettting up all around our cabin to ensure that our toddler did not fall out. They were more than willing to accomodate our little one's eating schedule. On some nights, Eivin would eat early and we could put him to sleep in one of the hammocks in the eating area so we could enjoy our dinner. The older kids loved exploring the grounds and the rock pools.

This exceptional level of care extended to the excursions available. We did the snorkleling trip and the bat caves with indepent guides arranged for by the Lodge. It was apparent that Margaret and Henry had carefully selected local guides who were not only knowledgeable, but unusually enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and making the excursion special. The staff employed by the Lodge are all similarly special. The hike across the island with Chappy and crew was fantastic and my daughter loved the nightime adventure for shrimp and other critters with Mr. Kelly.

We stayed in a great eco-lodge in Costa Rica, but La Loma surpassed that experience in so many ways. If you are looking for an eco-lodge experience in Panama, then you should choose La Loma.

There’s really nothing new we can add to the already glowing reviews of La Loma – everything is true. We stayed for four nights in the second cabin which has gorgeous views. The cabin is simple but tastefully out fitted. There’s no electricity (you won’t miss it) but plenty of lanterns and a flashlight for the path down to dinner.

The food truly is amazing and the reviewer that said every night is a new dinner party was bang on – great cocktails, great food and great conversation. We really enjoyed starting the day with hot coffee and fresh muffins (delivered to our room before breakfast) while taking in that gorgeous view.

We did get some rain but it didn’t ruin our stay at all, La Loma is that special. We went on a mangrove tour that ended at the bat caves, went to Red Frog Beach, toured the butterfly farm, saw sloths, roasted and ground chocolate beans grown on site and monkeys played in the trees behind our cabin every afternoon. We highly recommend a visit to La Loma!

This is the most amazing place. Henry and Margaret, the owners, are fantastic. The food was brilliant. The location is perfect. The ambience cannot be beat. I wish I could stay there every year. And, it's a thousand times nicer than staying at one of those bungalows over the water (I did that as well). If you can get a cabin here, take it!

I don't "do" writing reviews. It's just not my thing, haven't got the time etc. However, how could i not write a review about this amazing place? Our cabin had views which were out of this world, we were treated like family by Henry and Margaret, and the food was beyond compare. What really makes La Loma is the intimacy of the place, you take your meals with the other guests and the Escuadero family (Henry and Margaret) - every night is a new dinner party! Henry is amazingly knowledgeable and chatty and his enthusiasm and vivaciousness is catching! Our short stay here marked a really wonderful end to our honeymoon. We hope to return one day.
