“My Eden”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

I have stayed at Palmar twice in the last six months! It provides a haven away from the craziness of daily life, work, etc. I love sleeping under a tent listening to the waves crash at night and waking up to enjoy a cup of coffee on Red Frog Beach. The staff & volunteers are so friendly and helpful! I've had the perfect mix of hammocking and sunbathing combined with yoga, hiking, snorkelling, & other adventures during my stays. They're also connected to the Give & Surf non-profit so I've been able to volunteer in the local schools during my stay! I highly recommend Palmar to anyone who enjoys the outdoors... can't wait for my next visit!

Palmar is a great place to meet fellow travelers and enjoy time on the beach. When you arrive in Bocas Town it seems a little crazy, but you will be taken to a place that is nothing like the madness of town. Red Frog Beach is gorgeous, laid back and feels totally off the grid. Turn your phone off and enjoy. Make sure to try one of Brian's burgers and take a walk to Polo's Beach. Don't forget your bug spray (a lot of sand flies) and after bite lotion. Bring t-shirts and shorts. No fancy clothes or shoes necessary. Many thanks to the volunteers (Ben, Dom, Brian, Chris) for making us feel like friends.

Loved the cozy tents and the beautiful bar by the beach. The food is yummy too and you just get a very communal feeling from the place. It was one of my favorite places on our 6 months trip. Plus you get to see the red frogs, kaimans, sloths and many more in the vicinity.
Only downside: beach gets a bit crowded at times.

We managed to squeeze in a reservation here at the last minute and Im so glad we did as Palmar is amazing! We were a group of 6 girls so had one whole dorm to ourserves, and it was so spacious and homely, hard to believe it was actually in a giant tent! The privates looked pretty cool too. Great eco credentials so pump showers and taps, all with lovely seashell and mosaic patterns. Really well designed, and the social/bar/dining area was cosy, clean and felt really special. The prices were really reasonable, and the food was amazing, even for us veggies. We didnt go on any of the tours offered but they looked great, instead we rented snorkles and the guys pointed us off on a great hike to a nearby secluded beach for the best snorkling ive done in ages. We also did a brilliant meditation / yoga class combo on our last morning in a beautiful pavillion on the beach front, really magic. This place has got it right, wish i could have stayed longer!

During our honeymoon, we unfortunately and mistakenly (mislead) stayed six nights at the neighbouring and overpriced Red Frog Beach Resort, but found Palmar Tent Lodge when walking along the each on our last night on the island. Palmar was a breath of fresh air for us in comparison by many regards. While, we only stayed for happy hour and another 90 minutes dinner, here's how this established stood out from a restaurant/ service level
- There was a happy hour! Compared to the restaurants offered at Red Frog Beach Resort, Palmar honored their advertised happy hour, offering $1 local beers (Balboa and Panama) and mixed drinks at a reduced rate. What was nice too is the bartenders even rung a bell to remind you when Happy Hour was ending.
- Food was inexpensive. We had a delicious, home-style cooked dinner for just $10 each. It was family-style and burger night, and eating seconds until the food was gone was recommended.
- Staff were genuinely happy and made you feel welcome. The two young British gentlemen behind the bar welcomed us warmly and the staff on-site made the two of us, and other guests from around the world feel welcomed and a part of their group.
- Even the dogs loved this place. You know you're at a friendly and inviting property when the island dogs happily hang out at the restaurant's deck and lodge property. Their tails were wagging and the staff knew the backgrounds, names and even habits of each one.

Thank you for a memorable experience! Palmar Tent Lodge has hospitality, including great food, nailed down strongly.

Stayed two nights and it is simply amazing! The tents are in the jungle and comfortably enough equipped. The staff is incredibly helpfull and takes good care of their guests. The prices are very reasonable and you will will feel well fed. I would have loved to stay longer if it wasn't already booked up.

Our experience at Palmar was excellent. It can't be beat in terms of location and price.
The tents were clean and they are nestled right in the thick of nature. It was really nice to sleep in the rainforest and smell the clean air beach/forest air.
We onlyl stayed one night but we probably could have done one more - any longer and I probably would have been uncomfortable. If you're in to hot showers and the nice little luxuries that hotels provide then this probalby isn't the place for you.
Overall it was great experience and the staff are very friendly.
We stayed Dec 2013 over the holidays.
