Although there is still much more to come from Bocas Bound and Red Frog Beach (they are still continuing to develop the island) I had an awesome time. The weather wasn't the most cooperative when I was there but I still managed to have an awesome time, get out in the mangroves on the kayaks, do some wakesurfing, some real surfing, some hiking, plenty of eating/drinking and lots of hammock lounging. Its an easy boat ride from the main island and the insane partying (Definitely check out aqua lounge on Wednesdays) Its nice to come bake to Bastimentos for your chill island getaway in the jungle. My best memory was kayaking through the mangroves to a remote local restaurant. There were some local kids and we were the only gringos. The food was spectacular and the fish so fresh.

My only regret being that the zip-lines were not open when I was there in December but I believe that as of now they should be up and running. The staff and owners are awesome and really welcoming, ask for Justin (people call him The Dooog) to set you up with some sick adventures, also went and partied with him and some other staff in town. Overall definitely worth checking out, tell them what you want to do and they will set it up. I can't wait to go back! Oh yea and its really cheap to stay. Enjoy!

I stayed here for 5days and had a simply amazing time. The place is run by 6 American interns who bend over backwards to make sure you are having a good time. Each day they sit down with you and help you plan your daily adventures. The most spectacular part is most of your adventures are within walking distance. The hotel is near 4 remote, deserted, jungle-fringed beaches. You can snorkel, sea-kayak, surf, hike in the jungle or just lay in the hammock at the beach bar. You can also take a boat tour and visit the nearby islands lined with stunning beaches. My favorite was Dolphin Cay, where you get to see lots of dolphins. The hostel is in the middle of the jungle and on my daily walks I saw amazing wildlife, sloths, birds, red frogs with black polkadots. If you want to party party party there are two bars, or you can take a water taxi to the nearby town of Bocas. The staff, particuarly Jude the manager, were awesome and invited me out to party with them several nights. This was my favorite hostel for many reasons but mainly because: I felt cared for by the staff, the remote location, AND eco-adventures by day and party by night. Go there you will have a most memorable and fantastic time!

I traveled to Bocas del Toro over the Thanksgiving holiday with my boyfriend and another friend of ours. Bocas Bound was accommodating enough to allow us to stay there even though they were putting the 'finishing touches' on the hostel.

We had such an amazing time at Bocas Bound. Being some of the first guests to ever stay at this great place, I think that it is important that I take the time to share with the readers of tripadvisor a summary of my experience.

The People at Bocas Bound:
Bocas Bound is currently being run by a team of 'interns'. This group of people is a fun and adventurous group that made us feel very welcome at Bocas Bound. They took us surfing, hosted a bonfire on the beach, and helped us find some great hiking on the island.

The Rooms at Bocas Bound:
Bocas Bound offers shared rooms with bunk beds as well as 'suites' that have a private bathroom (with hot water), and include two double beds and a single bed. The Suites have walls separating the beds, which allows for a bit of privacy. We stayed in one of the suites. All rooms have AC, warm water, drinkable tap water, and are very clean and well decorated. We were told that you can even flush toilet paper in the rooms at Bocas Bound!

The 'Hang Out Area':
We spent most evenings under the large covered restaurant area. There is a pool table, a huge chess set (pieces are about 3 feet tall), many picnic tables, and a ping pong table (to be added soon). We played cards, had a few beers, listed to great music, and socialized in the restaurant area each night. On Thanksgiving, Bocas Bound allowed their kitchen and restaurant to be used by over 80 people for a huge open-invitation Thanksgiving dinner.

The Food:
Meals at Bocas Bound are local, affordable, and delicious. We paid about $4 for a plate with beans, fried plantains, and fish (whole, fried) or chicken. Breakfast was equally delicious and affordable. The cook David is a local Panamanian and the restaurant is owned by locals as well, so you are able to get a taste of the local cuisine while staying at Bocas Bound.

I have traveled to Central America more than 10 times. I have stayed in tons of hostels and I can say with 100% confidence that Bocas Bound is the best hostel that I have ever stayed at! The nature that surrounds you on the island, combined with the people and accommodation make Bocas Bound a place that you can't afford to miss if you are traveling in Bocas del Toro. The beaches are beautiful! The only thing that I regret about our trip is that we didn't get to spend enough time exploring the secluded beaches on the island.
