“The best vacation/surf trip ever!”
Reviewed April 30, 2013 via mobile

Our family trip to the Red Frog Bungalows was more than I could ever ask for. We were a traveling family of six, including my 2 year old son. Scott and Mikey welcomed us with so much warmth and hospitality. We arrived late, but Bobo had dinner waiting for us. After a long day of travel from the states, it was surprising. We have been to a few places were the cantina was closed for the night.

The next morning we woke up to fresh pressed coffee and another amazing meal made by Bobo. From then on the fun was a blur...

The boys went surfing with Scott and Toluch or T.O. They had a super epic time! Then, another day they went fishing and caught some black fin and yellowfin tuna...largest about 50 pounds. It was all caught on a go pro which we will kindly send to Scott soon. We also have some great video of Chato the wing man/ first mate. I wasn't on the boat but the energy and vibe from the boat was amazing!Scott definitely knows how to make people stoked out!

As for the girls and my two year old son, we had a blast exploring the jungle and the beaches. The beach out front is crazy beautiful, crystal clear water and very private. Everyone was extremely friendly. And we never had a problem with sand flies. We went on a quite a few boat excursions and it was awesome. We saw white faced monkeys and sloths which whom Nicco the gardener is expert at seeking out. And of course the red frogs, I discovered you can't search for them, they come to you. Since one night walking on a trail one landed on my foot.

The Bungalows are Eco friendly, which means no electricity; except for at night when your solar panels run your lights and your bedside fan. Which was surprisingly comfortable after a day. It is humid but what do you expect when you are in the jungle? Elvira the house keeper was amazing and cleaned our bungalow everyday. Herself and Mikey were extra cool with my little guy. He was in love.

I am suggesting so many of my own friends and customers to theBungalows... Check it out!

Thank you Scott and the team! Andrew, Morgan and I had the very best weekend escape from the busy-ness of the city to the bliss of your jungle paradise. We are already plotting our return visit. I loved being amongst the trees and critters in the garden - frogs, butterflies, birds (so many hummingbirds!), the parrots and yellow tails and of course the many and varied geckos and lizards, not to mention the fireflies and beetles at night. For Andrew it was the beach and warm water. Morgan loved our accommodation and the hammocks and the library. We all rated the food as a highlight. The whole team is friendly, cruisy and helpful. The property is immaculate and gorgeous - steps from the white sand beach but tucked into the jungle. We decided you could make one of those relaxation CDs to the sounds you hear at night - waves, frogs, crickets ... nothing manmade - devine. Awesome weekend! Oh, and the zipline just a short walk up the path is definitely worth doing as well.

Red Frog Bungalows was one of the greatest highlights of our month long honeymoon in Panama. The Balinese bungalow was an amazing treat to stay in and Scott and his crew created delicious meals everyday. From our deck we saw the red frogs and at night these glowing eyed fire beetles that loved to dive towards you. The surf was fun to get flipped in and Scott's new hammocks on the beach was the best place to lie around and show off in (you are in the best place on the beach!). We met great new friends from other parts of the world, ate great food, drank Panamanian beer and had many laughs - this is the place to go!

It was our first time to Panama and the Caribbean. What a surprise! Both the culture and surfing were amazing. Red Frog Bungalows was the perfect spot for us! A family of five we fit in the bungalows perfectly. The Bungalows are nestled in the jungle and located on the beach so we had the best of both worlds. We enjoyed the wildlife as well as the food. Bo Bo, the chef, cooked wonderful Caribbean food. Ask him for his Bo Bo soup or plantain fritters!

Room Tip: Just ask for a Bungalow and you are all set.

While looking for the best surf spot in Panama, my hubby found Red Frog Bungalows on Isla Bastimentos. I got hooked the moment he said this remote little jungle island also happens to be the only place in the world where you can see the strawberry poison-dart frog (Dendrobates pumilio) in the wild. We ended up with an unforgettable 5 days at Red Frog Bungalows - by far the best place to stay on the island.

Scott and his crew did a fantastic job creating a place where you can experience the jungle, beach and surf in a peaceful, eco-friendly environment. We had the privacy of an idyllic jungle bungalow, complete with a resident gecko, balcony up in the trees with parrots flying by, freshly collected rain drinking water, and an outdoor shower (with hot water – a true luxury in remote tropics). Electricity is used sparingly and only available at night, which added to the adventure for us when we’d walk back to our bungalow after dinner, using our headlamps. In the mornings, Tio and Chato always arrived bright and early to take Tim to the best breaks. Chef Bobo’s home cooked meals were yummilicious 3 times a day, every day! After those big lunches my favorite place to chillax was in a hammock at the rancho on the beach. Scott helped us schedule our activities for the next day according to the weather so that we could make the most of our time and never have a dull moment.

It is evident that a lot of thought and hard work is put into running this retreat. We had an awesome time and hope to go back someday!

Thanks to Trip Advisor reviews, we chose the Red Frog Bungalows to stay at during our recent vacation to Panama. It made our entire vacation - Jungle bungalows, absolutely delicious food that is prepared for you for every meal (who doesn't want that?) we just had to show up and delicious plates of food were on the table for us. The entire staff were so easy going, helpful and fun. It was so quaint and off the beaten path and Scott works really, really hard at making it a wonderful place to stay. We would recommend it to anyone. loved it!

A buddy and I decided to take a surf trip off the beaten path and Scott and Crew at Red Frog Bungalows gave us exactly that. If you are looking for empty waves, great weather, amazing food, good people and much more, you should plan a trip to see these guys. We spent our days surfing our butts off at the most uncrowned breaks, thanks to Gov Grings , T.O. and their local knowledge. Rather than having to haggle with a local taxi, Red Frogs has you covered with a pick up in the morning for transit to the location of the day. If the winds are hitting it, the team knows where you can hide to take advantage of the swell, in any condition. One day we had to check a few spots, and wind was up, crowds were prevalent, but eventually our guides put us in the best spot; nobody was in the water. After our daily surf, we were welcomed back at Red Frogs by a delicious lunch & cold beer and drink. A snooze in the hammock or down time on Red Frog Beach was the perfect post surf exercise. At night, Bobo prepared the finest of cuisine accented with his own local flavor. After dinner, relax and watch surf videos (Scott’s collection is fantastic), or hop a ride into town to catch some action. Either way, Red Frogs has it all to offer and it’s a must experience for the adventurous surfer or anyone looking to get away to a remote location. Scott and Team, Your favorite east coasters will be back. Thanks for everything!
