This is our 2nd time booking this place. We loved it so much we brought friends. The area is beautiful and peaceful. The home is clean and well maintained, our favorite part was the abundance of sea life you see under the home and in the nearby reef. Poli was awesome! Very attentive, informative and responsive. We highly recommend this property.
My wife and I were looking for a place to spend our 15th anniversary and our many google searches lead us to the blue house. We spend five days / nights and it was exquisite. We loved rising and sleeping with the sun instead instead of with electric lighting. But were very appreciative of the electricity and water as well. We loved the fact that our most strenuous decision every day was which chair were we going to sit in to have our afternoon beer and pretzels.
Specifics - The dock entrance is near Tony's Market. We were a little unsure when we first got there if we were in the right place. But Poli was very responsive to email and Juan showed up shortly thereafter.
We stayed in the blue house - about a 10 to 15 minute boat ride from Bocas Town to the house. House has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Everything was in great working order and we had no issues the entire stay. Juan and his wife were very helpful and quite gracious at our total lack of knowing the language. We were still able to communicate fairly well.
Highlights were being able to jump right off the front deck and snorkel around. Loved seeing rays and fish and squid swimming around the house. The hammock made for an amazing nap. The adirondack chairs were quite comfortable. Listening to the waves and watching the pelicans fish were amazing. Even the rainstorms were spectacular.
We unreservedly recommend staying here! We definitely hope to be back again someday.
My wife and I spent 4 nights here and it was quite the experience!! You're at least a 10 minute boat ride away from town which means you have nothing to do but relax and enjoy the wild life surrounding you!! I spent hours snorkeling around and under the house, which never got old. At night, sitting out back watching the activity on the small reefs was amazing. Definitely a great place to get yourself in tuned with nature!! The house does get a little stuffy but you climatize to it pretty quick.
Our only issues were communication with Poli, the owner and that was partially my fault. Everyone there uses whatsapp to communicate and I didnt have cell service. Juan, the caretaker and daily boat ride, won't make any decisions or changes without approval from Poli, which got a little annoying. Poli, was great though with the communication we had.
Red Frog beach was my favorite place to visit. The beach is huge with small 2-3ft waves rolling in with seriously no under tow. The beach was almost private. We had a stretch of about 125 meters alk to ourselves. The food there was some of the best we had throughout our trip in Panama. Watching the sea life at the house and Red Frog beach were the best!!
I do recommend taking a Google map photo of the house and it's location from town. This will make it a lot easier to take a water taxi. Not every water taxi knows the property. We paid on average $20 to get back to the home from Bocas Town.
This isn't a "luxury getaway" if you want air conditioning, maid service, and a busy nightlife right next door. But if the idea of a quiet shallow coral reef with tropical fish in your "basement" and "back yard" sounds good, this might be perfect. We had a great time!
Two little cottages, connected by a shared dock system, built on stilts off the Caribbean shore of Bocas del Toro. Solar panels power lights, a bedroom ceiling fan, a refrigerator, and WiFi. There's a propane kitchen stove and hot water heater. The water comes from a rain collector, so you'll probably want to buy plenty of bottled drinking water when you stop at the little grocery store near the Bocas del Toro dock. It's accessible only by boat: rental includes entry and exit taxi rides.
Poli and Lyo will provide information on boat tours of the area, and help you sign up; or you can just relax and snorkel on your own little coral reef.
Pictures can not do this place justice. Absolutely beautiful house, away from town, but close enough if you needed to take a water taxi to town to grocery shop. So many different types of fish swim under the house - it's the perfect place to snorkel. There is an entire city of sea life under and around the house. The bioluminescent fish behind the house at night were absolutely breathtaking. Poli and Lyo were amazing hosts and very accommodating. I definitely plan on bringing family back. This place is a dream.
This is an unbelievably beautiful location. The house sits on the water on stilts, and there are magnificent water views from every single window. If you want to go in, you just jump of the deck any which way.
The snorkeling from the house is fantastic. There are plenty of fish right under the house and the stilts are covered with beautiful corals. There was spotted eagle ray that came twice to feed in the shallow water behind the house and you don't even have to go in to see it. We saw large schools for colorful fish, sting rays, eagle rays and a nurse shark. Something different every day and no need to go anyplace else.
The house is large and nicely appointed. Master suite has a private balcony and separate bathroom. We went with one of our adult kids, and we had more space than we needed.
The only way to get there is by boat and Poli includes a free ride to town and back once a day so you can stock up on provision or do day trips. Bocas town is small but fun and there are gorgeous beaches nearby. It's an island, so there aren't a lot of cars and taxis are the way to get around. In town it's about 1$ per person if you flag them down. Everything is "chill" and "relaxed". We didn't spent a lot of time in town, since the house was so beautiful.
Poli and Lyu where extremely nice, helpful and accommodating. If you want/need something, just ask.
If you want a tranquil spot with great snorkeling and in a magnificent tropical setting, this one is hard to beat. My wife and I have been to over 20 countries but this one is right at the top. Much better (and cheaper) and then resort over-water villas.
