The family made my stay a lot of fun. Definately the best hostel if you want to surf, it's in walking distance so saves you money on boats. and it's a beautiful hostel. Would definately Stay here again if id come back: good vibes and met Great people.

This hostel is a bit out of town, but well worth the $2 taxi ride. It is peaceful, safe and had a great group of travelers staying there. The folks who run this hostel are helpful and made sure our trip went well. If you're into surfing this is a great stop. Although we were not into surfing, it was a great place to be and to meet people. I would highly recommend this hostel

Room Tip: The dorms were nice. There weren't any lockers to lock everything up in, but it felt safe since...

This is a family owned place. Both parents and both sons work there, and are really friendly and helpful. The hostel rooms are basic, but clean and each one has its own bathroom. The hostel has its own pool, and lots of places to chill out and just watch the ocean and relax. Happy hour is from 4 to 6, and rum drinks will cost you 2 dollars.
It is about a 10 minute drive from the center of town, so just be aware that you'll need a cab or bike to get to and from.
Lastly, I had problems getting a cab when I left because it was so early in the morning. The owner of the hostel woke up and drove me there himself. Like I said, great place, friendly people, definitely would stay again

Just came from my surf trip to bocas del toro with my wife and wow men! we found a resort style place at hostel price! just 7 minute car from the downtown bocas ( $2 per person ), just perfect! without all the crowd and super noisy places around is full of nature...just a few steps from the sea.. a lot of activities and everything you need to spend a really great vacation. The place is perfectly clean, the people friendly, great bar, food, AC, pool, dock with a boat to make the trips, surfing, fishing or diving!.. solo rooms or shared, small kitchen to make your own cooking if you want or you can buy it in the bar's restaurant, surf rentals or moon parties...they got it all. Today is hard to find one place with everything you need, clean and friendly, specially in that price range. Thanks to all the staff they treat us like family, hope to come back soon!!

Room Tip: If you want a couples perfect get away ask for Carenero or Paunch rooms.!! only 10ft from the ocean...

It was a pleasure to stay here. Felt like was in a luxury while it still had the hostel vibe that i love so muuch. I stayed in a dorm and it was perfect comftrable beds, ac,clean had its own bathroom really the best sleep i have had had in a dormm Theres a comunal kitchen, bar, a huge clean pool. The location i loved far enough from the city so you feel relaxed but close enough to be convinient. But what made my stay special was juan the owner and his family. There a re I was treated like family we since the moment i arrived. We got to surf everday since the hostel is really close to all the good surf spots. Highly recomend this hostel for people looking for a relaxed but social place. Thank you guys for the wonderfull stay!!!

My two friends and I stayed at the Pukalani Hostal for four nights in November. We were honestly shocked by how amazing and perfect this place was. We got in really early on our check in day (after a wild night on the Bus from Panama City) and the owners were awesome enough to let us check in way early. We were able to shower, and rest up in the many places to chill. We threw on bathing suits and moved between the lounge chairs, the hammocks, the beach and the pool as we recuperated from our trek to Bocas. It was the perfect was to start an even more perfect trip!

Yes, this place is a bit out of town, but that is what makes it so perfect. You are a short trek to town if you want to party it up, but you have a perfect, beautiful place to chill out if needed (and to be honest, you can party it up at the hostel if needed too! They have an awesome happy hour). The Pukalani is perfectly placed. You turn one way out of the hostel and can head to town, or better yet, you can turn the other way and you are just moments from the most beautiful beaches on Isla Colon and some pretty awesome bars too!

The owners are amazing. We had a great time chatting with them, and they were so helpful and gracious about recommending cool places and letting us hitch rides into town whenever they were going. They really took, what is already an amazing hostel, up to another level.

This place could honestly charge a lot more than they do. It is an amazing place for an amazing value. I've traveled many places, and stayed at many hostels and this is by far one of the best.

Such a great vibe! I can't wait to come back!

There are a few changes at the Pukalani. We no longer have our shuttle service available. However, we are now offering free breakfast to guests staying in our private rooms from 8am-10am. We are also providing pancake mix for our guests staying in the dorms. We hope you consider Pukalani when you visit Bocas del Toro!

Thank you
