“Nice Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

Had a good experience staying at this hotel. However, when staying at the hotel (though no fault of the staff), we did not have running water for 4 hours. Our room was very nice and felt very tropical. We had large ant problems because it was raining. The water pressure of the showers and sink were very minimal. Despite all these minor issues, our hotel stay was lovely. Great breakfast menu in the menu.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us at the Palma Royale. Thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel. We apologize for the water outage. The water problem in Bocas has been a long standing problem and we hope with time will be rectified. It is 100% better than 5 years ago and getting better all the time. We are glad you enjoyed our breakfast menu, we believe that breakfast while on vacation is the most important meal of the day and strive to make it great at the Palma.
Thanks again.

After a long time of looking where to stay on the island that wasn't a hostel we found this amazing hotel. The place is gorgeously designed and priced well especially since breakfast is included every morning. The rooms are very spacious and modern and all have a nice balcony facing the water. The breakfast is delicious and you have options from the menu they hand out so at least you have some variety. The staff was very warm and friendly. The restaurant also offers a great happy hour.

This is really a great property, there are beautiful views of the water from the balconies even though it Is not right no the water, but you don't miss it. The room we had had two bedrooms and a living area with a flat screen. The furnishings were extremely comfortable and floor plan was excellent.

The highlight was the bathroom. Posh is the word to describe the fixtures. And the shower was hot. Very much appreciated after a day at the beach. I would definitely stay here again.

Thank-you Charmaine and the to the great staff at Palma Royale. Excellent service and a beautiful place to stay. We shared the penthouse with travel friends and it was worth it. Beautiful views into the archipelago and nice interiors. We did have trouble with WIFI on the top floor but everything else was great.

Room Tip: Two couples? Definitely pick the penthouse, it will cost you only a few dollars more than two separa...

Centrally located, easy to walk to everything in town. We got off the ferry and walked a couple minutes to this hotel. They have a great breakfast selection as well. The rooms had everything necessary but there were a few issues. Our toilet wouldn't flush multiple times and the fridge was leaking. The hotel service was excellent and fixed these issues Immediately each time we requested. Unfortunately the rooms on the floor level do have a moldy smell to them (not for those who are sensitive to molds/asthmatic guests) and there were a lot of tiny insects crawling around the closet and tables. It is a warm tropical area and we do understand that bugs can get in the room, so this I know is hard for the hotel to counter.
The washrooms are very unique with a nice sink and neat shower.

If you want a great dessert place - check out Ana's sweets a couple blocks from the hotel. They have a great passion fruit mousse cake and chocolate cake/brownies.

Again great service and yummy breakfast but the rooms needs some improvement.

This is the best hotel in town! It's lovely in everyway. The price is reasonable, the staff is incredibly kind, friendly and efficient. We stayed in the deluxe suite which we felt was well worth the money. The room was beautiful with a fabulous view of the town and the ocean. The bed had a plastic mattress cover, which I understand for sanitary reasons, but makes for a sweaty nights sleep. Other than that the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was contemporary and I like that it had a dual flush option on the toilet. The shower was wonderful, good hot water and shower head. The mini kitchen ended up coming in very handy, as we got a terrible food poisoning and had to spend all day and night in the hotel room because we were so ill. It was nice to be able to fix a basic meal and have a large refrigerator, though I am sure you could fix a gourmet meal if you are creative in the kitchen. A little super market is near by, which was very convenient since we weren't able to go out to eat comfortably while we were sick. We happened to arrive on Bocas Founders Day celebration, which was really exciting for the first 6 hours. Many, many schools and their marching bands came to march in the parade... Which they marched, beat their drums, and blasted trumpets, and more, from 9am clear through to mid night. The hotel area happened to be right across from the Ferry Port, which happened to be a hang out spot for the little musicians and the noise got pretty old, but we got over it. We tried to drink our way through it, but that didn't work so we took a boat taxi to Bibis on the Beach and had a lovely quiet couple of hours with great food and drinks. The celebration was fun to see mostly and the noise is nothing the hotel could help. Breakfast at the hotel was good and simple. I loved that the staff would coordinate their shirts with the table clothes everyday, darling little addition.

We arrived having made no reservations, our route was an early morning departure from Cahuita Costa Rica, so we were hot and hungry. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Palma virtually across the street from the water taxi dock. All I would recommend is to get a room on the third or forth floor as the second floor does not offer much of a view. The in included breakfast was excellent and the bar, Under the Palma, was a great place to unwind after a day of activities. The service was very good, we do not speak very much Spanish and we got along just fine. Didn't find the staff too helpful in booking anything but walk down the street of Bocas town and you will be able to find out anything you can imagine from the many tour stands. All in all this was extremely comfortable and quiet accommodations in a central location for activities.
