“Best hostel ever”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

Came back from a great vacation and found myself talking more about this hostel than the trip itself! The rooms are super cute and really clean, nice wooden floors with a really cozy feel and really nicely decorated! The free bike rentals were great as the hostel is right off the main street (which is really nice since it can get very loud all throughout the day/night) and is less than a 5 minute bike ride away with several supermarkets right down the block. Jenny is so accommodating and a really sweet person, you can tell she puts her heart into the place. We will continue to solely recommend Panama's Paradise Saigoncito and will only stay here from now on when we are in Bocas.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice but be aware there is no community kitchen although several rooms come with a sha...

For starters Jenny is a very good host and offers a service of what you would expect in a 1st world country. The rooms are well equipped with everything one would expect plus more i.e Bug sprays and a bicycle. The bicycle comes in handy and allows you to get around the Island quickly with ease. The accommodation is about 5mins away from the main road with all the shops and is surrounded by a nice patch of shade with all the trees which looks beautiful. The rooms were small but comfortable and a free drink was offered on the first day. One may feel that the room is over priced which is true however it remains competitive with the other places on the Island. I would definitely return for the simple reason its clean, quiet and 1st world standard of service.

We stayed at Panama's Paradise Saigoncito for 3 nights and we loved every minute. Jenny is very sweet and accomodating to us. We were delayed a day in getting here and could not get communication to her in a timely manner, so she pushed back our reservation with no charge. They offer a free and refreshing beverage upon arrival, alcohol included. The cabana's on the upper decks were especially wonderful. You can hang out on the deck listening to the birds, relaxing in the hammocks watch TV if you are so inclined. Great location for singles, kids and multiple couples traveling together as they have some connected rooms that share only a kitchen or you can have a fully equipped cabana to yourself. Very peaceful here and just a short bike ride into town (bikes free of charge). Bathrooms very modern and cabanas decorated very quaintly. Beds were comfortable (although my husband fell asleep in the hammocks two nights in a row) Local markets are just down the street. We had a cute little gato that hung out with us as well. Rooms were clean enough considering that Panama is all about lots of outdoor living. My only suggestion is to look up at the ceiling fans once in a while and dust them off. We have every intention of trying out there sister location, Rafeals House on Isla Bastimentos when we return. Plan also to make Panamas Paradise Saigoncito our second home while visiting Bocas in the future. Thank you so much Jenny and staff. We'll be back soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in # 5 which connects a kitchen to #4. These are upstairs with a great big veranda to han...

I stayed in room #10 for one night - this is a private room with a double bed in a small cabin that shares a bathroom, kitchen, and sitting area with another private room in the same space. This basically makes it like a mini-hostel so a lot depends on who's in the other room. The buildings themselves are bright and quirky, but the charm doesn't totally compensate for the quality - everything is a little ramshackle and not super clean. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom and I waited to take a shower until I got to the next place I was traveling to because it just felt a little...icky, for lack of a better word (this could be because the two other guys in my cabin were messy, not sure what it looked like before they got there). I agree with another reviewer who wrote that this could be a good place for a family, couple, or group if you can rent out an entire cabin. But even given that, I think it was overpriced. My private room that could sleep two was $60 and I have had cleaner nicer stays in private rooms in hostels for half the price. The staff was super nice and it's also great that bicycles are included in the cost, but I would not choose to stay here again.

We stayed at Jenny's place for quite some time. It's a very nice and quiet place a little bit out of town, bikes were included. The rooms were clean and with lots of space to hang around, especially the ones on the upper floor. The one in the back had some bugs. I'll probably stay there again.

We liked Jenny immediately as she was very accommodating. We arrived early at 8am from the Panama City flight and she had a room ready and waiting for us to relax. The TV was on, fans on, and room light up to make the room very homely. The cabana was cozy but super cute and very clean. There were hammocks outside on the veranda which were awesome to chill on and watch the hummingbirds buzz around. We ended up staying 4 days longer than anticipated as we liked the location. The free bikes were awesome as we biked up to Bluff beach a few times and all around the island each day. There were a few stray kitties around the area which we loved as it reminded us of our pets at home. They were clean and fun to play with and interact with. Overall it was an amazing place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in #3 which was cozy but nice for the 2 of us. We ate on the balcony and you could feel th...

We spent a week here and were lucky enough to have a (shared) cabana to ourselfs because no one showed up to move into the room next to ours. In light of this the money we spent here was about right for what we got. We used the kitchen daily, enjoyed the free bikes, free water and owner`s helpfulness. The gardens are very nice, dont expect paradise or an ocean view. That beeing said I must say that if we had to share the small cabana (private bedrooms are tiny) with strangers, it would have been a lottery. If you are travelling as a family or befriended couple, this place is a good choice. If not, make sure you get one of the few completely private solutions, otherwise it is as private as a double bed in a dorm, which would cost you less than half.
