I stayed at Hotelito Del Mar for 5 nights in June of 2013. Being a first time visitor to Bocas I decided to send the hotel an email for a tip on logistics in regards to how far the property was from the local airport in Bocas.

The reply to my email was very quick and perfectly written by Sally the owner. I never walked more than 10 minutes by staying at this hotel and was not interested in the "Hostel" experience. A/C worked well, shower worked well, and there were hand towels included and two bath towels.

Being a first time visitor I had many questions for use of the water taxi's, restaurants, tours, etc. Sally always had a great suggestion and has lived there for years.

I would recommend renting a bike next door ($5 a day) to see the town by bike for the fun of it.

Also check out Red Frog Beach ($7 water tax ride from JamTam across the street). Also eat a yummy breakfast at Lili's also across the street. This hotel is just one block off the main drag and just far enough away from any loud night club music (the bars stay open until 5am- yikes).

$55 a night was right in my price range budget wise so this property did me right. Cheers.

We booked in advance and arrived to be greeted by Sally the owner. She apologetically told us that unfortunately our room had been overbooked BUT she had an upgrade available for us at a lower rate to make amends and would we like to see the room. The room she had for us was on the top floor and was huge with two beds, a massive corner balcony and a two person seated shower! We agreed to take the room as it was very good value. The hotel is definately more of a home than a hotel.Sally is very attentive and provides a very good service as do the other staff. There is a shared kitchen,as there is no onsite restaurant and a living area with books and magazines .Coffee makers are provided in the room along with huge fluffy towels.and the corner location of our balcony provided a great view point to watch the goings on of Bocas Town.

We planned to stay at Bocas del Toro for 4 days (5/22/13) and instead we stayed for 5 days. Bocas del Toro is a quaint little town surrounded by islands with sandy beaches and crystal clear water. We chose this hotel because of the reviews and we were not dissappointed, very quite, spacesious clean rooms, friendly staff, in the middle of town, close to everything, airport 3 blocks away, water taxi accross the street. The owner's name is Sally, she is a wonderful hostess and makes you feel like a guest in her house. In the morning they serve delicious muffins, fresh fruits and the best coffee in town, Sally sits and chats with all the guests, her recommendations are very valuable and if you follow them you will not be dissappointed. Surely we'll go back next year for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor have beautiful views. The hotel structure makes all the rooms very quite.

My husband and I just spent are 17th anniversarry there. The place is small and cozy. I loved the vegetation around the Hotel and the well done paintings on the walls. It makes the place feel cool; like an oasis in a desert. Its also close to the taxi boat station, making it easy to get to. The atmoshere at the hotel is very nice, safe and peacefull. The owner is a great lady that was very helpful. She works hard yo keep everything very nice. Lucy from Costa Rica

We are two 30 year old surfers that wanted a place in the middle of all the action but needed a break from the hostel scene for a bit. This place was affordable, very close to everything and the lady that owns the place treated us like here own sons. She even kept the coffee and breakfast out for us a little longer on our hangover days. Highly recommend!

Firstly, we had room 2 on the ground floor which was large, reasonably modern, had extremely good A/C and even had a TV.
The inclusive breakfast comprised great coffee, consistently strong each morning, fresh delicious home-made muffins, fresh fruit and some juices from concentrate (a meagre breakfast sure, but they did mention this upon our arrival so nothing to complain about here whatsoever).
The owner, Sally (from the USA), is very welcoming and affords her guests the time to get to know them by casually sitting out in the patio to chat, amongst her pet birds (Pretty Bird & Sweet Pea) and her pet cat (Kit Kit).
Staff were all smiley without being fake, helpful and friendly, even happy to chat during a bit of downtime before heading off for the day..
Overall, if coming back to Bocas, I wouldn't even think of looking elsewhere for accommodation, since at these prices, you get more than you pay for, it's a complete no brainer for me.
