Nice hotel located 10 min driver from the main "party" area.
I wasn't lucky and got a room that is actually a part of 2 rooms - inside the room there was a door leading to another one and there was a very noisy family with kids so make sure your room isn't connected with another one.
Free internet - very weak signal in the room.
The room is clean, bed are comfortable and there is a safe (13" laptops mostly) too.
Pool/beach are ok too.
Like everyone else wrote - there is a smell in the area.
bottom line - make this hotel cheaper, overall it's very old and tired.

Bocas is a wonderful place to visit. I have enjoyed many of the beaches, tours and restaurants. However I would recommend staying at a different place. From time to time, we got a smell of something really nasty. Also, there is some kind of loud generator that runs and then shuts off. Just when you think it's going to be quiet, it runs again. This could be a great place if they would give attention to these annoying problems.

I agree with bfdolly. The hotel has a great location but is highly overrated. Also there was an overwhelming smell whenever we tried to go to the beach or get in a cab to go to town. Actually we smelt it almost anytime we left the room. I complained several times about this obnoxious septic smell, and had been told it was garbage and that they were taking care of it. It wasn't a smell of garbage and it didn't get better. I would recommend staying in the area but not at this hotel. It will only ruin your vacation.

We stayed here over Christmas with our two adult daughters. For anyone who has traveled extensively to resort areas in other 3rd world countries in the Caribbean, and see a 4 star rating for this hotel ,just be aware you will be disappointed. This hotel enjoys one of the better locations in the Bocas area and the views from the rooms are actually quite nice but that is about the extent of the positives. The place is old and very run down.My husband and I stayed in one of the Junior Suites .The smell of mold and mildew is quite overpowering each time you enter the room. The tiles on the floor are badly stained. Our mini refrigerator was covered in rust on the outside of the door and there was a towel on the floor next to it when we checked in because it drained water all the time. The maid would change the towel but no effort was ever made to correct the problem. The shower tiles are really quite filthy especially the areas where the tiles meet the glass enclosure .We were actually in our room on 2 occasions when the maid came to clean (always late in the afternoon) and the entire process took about 5 minutes .Bed lines were not changed and the cleaning of the bathroom could not have taken more than 1 minute so it is not surprising it remains so dirty. The food at the breakfast buffet which was included in the price of the room was terrible. The food at the restaurant /bar over the water equally bad.Smell of sewage is often prevalent and the people working there obviously prefer to chat to each other rather than serve their guests. There are people at this hotel who do deserve a commendation as they do try hard.In particular, worthy of a special mention is the reception staff. We found them to be invariably polite ,pleasant and helpful. Also for example some of the young men around the place who do a variety of jobs.like carrying your bags to your room ,or handing out towels at the pool area, they too were pleasant and helpful.
We have traveled extensively throughout the world including beach areas like Fiji,Tahiti, Zanzibar ,Bali as well as all through the Caribbean and Mexico and we don't apply the standards we expect at home to these countries but if you are going to charge prices such as are charged at this resort ,then they should at least provide a clean, comfortable accommodation.

I want to start by saying that we had an amazing time at this hotel! The setting was fabulous...a quiet paradise. However, as previous posters, I will caution people not to expect luxury. The hotel is basic, but clean.

If you are not looking for luxury, but for relaxation, then don't let the cover of this book fool you. The pool was fabulous, the view from our room marvellous and the ocean front restaurant as relaxing as it gets ( provided you are not in a rush...and know that food quality and taste can be inconsistent...smoothies were good though!).

They offer a shuttle into town roughly every 4 hours, which is great. While Bocas town is wonderful, 4 hours there is probably a bit much so cabbing there or back at $2 per person is a good option.

If you are a backpacker looking to party, Bocas town is probably better, but if you are looking to enjoy the quiet of a beach with the proximity to Bocas I would not hesitate to recommend Playa Tortugua!!!
