“Great musical experience”
Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

Stayed there for one night during Easter. I am not going to cover how nice the decoration and the scenery are, which were covered in other review and they are all true.

Yes it was expensive compared with other options in the region but the suite is really nice. We stayed at the Fantasia Suite at Block A. I can't find anything bad about the suite. Everything are exactly the same as described in website, or better. The bed and linen are among the best quality I have even experienced. The toiletry are from Hermes. Mini bar items, including a dessert wine, espresso, and snacks are free. There are some small gifts that are designed for you to take away too.

A real deal is their Hi-fi provided in the suite. In our suite we have Cyrus CD player, pre-amp and two mono channel power amps to push a pair of Focal micro utopia. I really enjoy listening to music in this lovely old English style suite.

They provide CDs for use free of charge. The collection is a bit dated. If you are serious about music, bring your favorite CDs.

They also organized a free music appreciation function after dinner, with free flow of whiskey and a small selection of other drinks. I don't know if they do this everyday but to us this was a surprise treat and we really enjoy it.

They use a pair of Focal Grande Utopia, powered by Halcro DM68, pre-amps and MOON supernova CD player. Those are top end equipments and the sound quality is amazing. They played a selection of CDs covering different genre of music. The choice of music were great but the recording quality varies. I think it would be better if they could use CD recording of higher quality.

Food quality is good but don't expect Michelin quality. After all, I believe the target customer is local Taiwanese rather than European. Overall services is attentive, staff are friendly. It was a really enjoyable stay.

We had a suite on the 3rd floor. It was a room with a true old England feeling and equipped with nice equipment included a nice stereo. You can pick music in the lobby. There is a great collection.

The set dinner was very nice and formal. Very surprised that this is a hotel operated by a local Taiwanese.

The view and the architect from the window was wonderful. We wish that we could stay for another night.

Room Tip: We paid 2000 extra to upgrade our room from the basement to the 3rd floor, It was a wise decision.

You will have the wrong feeling that you are actually landed in a old castle in England when you are here. It cost me S$800/nite for 2 adults+2 child with an set dinner & breakfast, it seems like a lot but when you first entered the building & room, everything was so perfectly done, this once in a life time experience totally worth the penny, the room interior nevertheless are very old english including bed, furnishing. They entertain in-house guest with music apprecation session in the music hall after dinner, I'm in love with the music hall. Within the premises, there are shooting spots everewhere, you might need to spend hours here for shooting session.I must compliments on their wonderful afternoon tea (extra cost) too, all pastries were so amazing tasty.

Took a cab down from to The Old England after visiting the sheep farm, cost us NT200 (S$8). High tea was supposed to end at 4pm, we arrived at 3:15pm and the staff would not allow us in saying it was already fully booked. Since we did not make prior reservation, we walked around outside taking photos. When we saw some guest leaving, we tried our luck but the same staff said no, their high tea is ending soon. We did not give up, not wanting to waste our trip there, tried asking another staff who checked with the staff inside the restaurant and he let us in, but telling us we had to leave by 4:30pm.
The restaurant interior was decorated with statutes and ornaments, very English style. Slightly more than 10 tables, no wonder they were fully booked.
The high tea comes in a 3-tiered (see pic) set of scones, sandwich, cakes, pastries and macoron, a pot of tea and free flow coffee, and cost us S$20+ each. It was worth the trip and waiting. They told us to start eating from the bottom tray up, and by the time we finished up the 2nd tier, we were full. We took a few pictures around the dining area, rather small, and only hotel guest was allowed into the other areas. I was hoping to take a look at the other facilities and was disappointed we could only gain access to the restaurant.
We were lucky to find a cab outside the hotel, otherwise would need the staff to call a cab for us. Cost us NT300 to get back to our hotel which is further up the hill.

A very good place to take photos but they do not allow photography inside, they won't even allow you to go in unless you bought tickets for the concert or stay in the hotel itself. You are allowed to take photos in the garden in front.

Western style castle stay with lots of surprises.
Starting with ranges of free CD selection to enjoy the high quality music player.
Free souvenirs, free fruits, free drinks in fridge and dessert wine.
Hermes bathing set.
The dinner was quite disappionted.
Music tour at 9pm with free whisky was nice.
The price is really expensive but it worths.

I had the most amazing stay at this hotel, felt like I was in the castle somewhere in England. Really, wonderful service, room is up to every perfection and amenities are a world class.
Glad we managed to stay there and enjoy our time there. We must splurge once in a while and do so with this hotel.

Room Tip: Perfect. Its very quiet in the room.
