The setting is superb. The garden, a profusion of flowering trees and shrubs, beautifully maintained, stretches from the hotel's main area down to the cliff edge. The beach, reached by a flight of steps, is a lovely bay of white sand, palm-fringed and empty save for a few bathers. There are two swimming pools (sea water) in the hotel grounds. The accomodation is in separate cabins, spread across the garden. Our cabin was big and comfortable, with sitting area and large beds, good bathroom and - rare in Sri Lanka - good bedside lighting. The windows had netting so we could leave them open and didn't need the air-con. Most of the hotel guests were there for the Ayurveda treatment, and ate their special diet food in a separate dining room. The regular food was good, well prepared and served, but rather unimaginative. Excellent sea food, and lots of pasta. The place is calm and restful, no piped music, no TV in the rooms, perfect for winding down.
