We had a great 3nights here in April. After staying in the hills we were worried that the coast might be too hot, but using the shadey areas and the fan we were fine. The staff are really helpful and happy to sort out side trips or ongoing arrangements for you. The food was good - you can order in the am for the pm meal which makes it easier. The beaches are a short walk along the road so you need a sarong or robe but there is shade and the views are stunning. We chatted to some local families who go to collect shells in the evenings. The swimming is for confident swimmers but next year the pool should be open, great.

My fiancé and I stayed 5 nights here, and enjoyed it very much! It was quiet (except from some road noise) and cool. The AC was very welcome after a week of fans. The shower was nice and hot, the TV was nice and satellite-y, and the bed was just right. The hotel itself is a bit worn, but it's not a downfall. I was just glad it had AC and clean sheets.

The best part of staying there was the staff, and the food. The main concierge/waiter/bellman/receptionist was absolutely amazing. I regret not remembering his name! H always had a smile, was helpful and ensured we had lots of bananas, beers, towels, pieces of toast etc. He helped us organize a trip to Udawalawe park, and to a couple of nearby beaches. He and the owner were really concerned for us upon our departure, as our taxi driver from Negombo was quite late and they worried we would miss our flight. (We made it with 15 minutes to spare.)

The food was amazing! Their rice and curry was my #1 in all of SL. Their seer fish was to die for, and their marinated chicken was awesome. Even the breakfast was superb! They get fresh home made bread daily (which I ate so much of) which is so welcome after a week of boring eggs and thin toast everywhere else. I still dream of the bread. And the curry.

The only downfall, which isn't the fault of the hotel is that the beach across the street (and I think most of the Tangalle area) isn't really safe for swimming. The waves out front were HUGE (3-4m). We went to nearby Goyambokka beach, and the waves were ok, but still overwhelming at times. I lost a pair of sunglasses. Oops.

I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Tangalle. The staff are just amazing, and it warmed my heart to know they genuinely cared. By the way, Tangalle was so wonderful that during our stay, we got engaged! :) It's an inspiring place!

We stayed here from the 9th - 11th March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Any negatives we mention are easily outweighed by the many positives. Negatives first; our room was good but we could never call it deluxe, the towels are certainly in need of replacement, our visit to the turtles was interesting but overrated i.e. took 45 minutes to get there and then we were herded along the beach in the dark for some 10-15 minutes at a very fast pace to see one turtle laying eggs under torch light and then back again. Unfortunately the visit to the blow hole was disappointing because it was the wrong time of the year - we should have done better research and now know you really need to go in the wet season!
Positives: very friendly staff especially the bar/restaurant manager and the young tuk tuk driver who was very pleasant and informative. His name is Saali and we would certainly recommend you to use him if you stay at this hotel. The food was good and the location was good. It is opposite a good beach and only a short 20 minute walk or a tuk tuk ride to brilliant Paradise Beach. If we ever visit Tangalle again we would certainly use this accommodation.

We found this hotel on TripAdvisor. We were very lucky because they were fully booked but very generous staff could find one free room after re-checking room availability. We spent three nights here and everything was great and we more than recommend trying some dishes form the menu for your dinner. Room was perfect, clean, quiet and no mosquitos. The staff also arranged us a day trip to Udawalawe National Park and made a reservation for a very new hotel in Mirissa after they heard us that every hotel is full in Mirissa.

The eco villa at Nugasewana Eden definitely exceeded our expectations. It is so cute, cosy and exotic and the views from the villa are just breath-taking... The hut is located in the middle of a huge, exotic garden with lots of palm trees and a fantastic see view.

The amenities are basic but sufficient (we didn’t switch on the kettle or the radio even once) and the lack of luxuries makes the place more authentic.

Living in the villa gives you a feel of a life in a jungle. In the garden surrounding the villa hundreds of exotic birds compete in a 24 hour singing contest. Some of them can be really loud, even at night!, which is actually great because it drowns out the traffic noise coming from the street nearby.

Initially we were slightly worried about the lack of a fridge and hot water but it didn’t seem to be a problem at all. The water was constantly warm because the temperature outside was around 30 degrees of Celsius, also at night… (we visited Sri Lanka in March). A fridge isn’t really necessarily because you can easily buy fresh and refreshing fruit cocktails (I recommend papaya juice).

The owners and staff of Nugasewana Eden were really friendly and helpful. They even organised for us a beautiful wedding ceremony on the beach, but as far as I know this was the first and last wedding they did so I won’t be advertising it.

Anyway, we had absolutely wonderful time there and if we decide to visit Sri Lanka again (and we probably will, wonderful place!) we will definitely stop by at Nugasewana Eden. :)

This hotel advertises its doubles as super deluxe. I'm not sure I'd go that far but they are nice, spacious, clean and have the all important A/C you need in Southern Sri Lanka. The owners and staff were friendly and informative and the breakfast buffet made a nice change to the standard egg and toast served elsewhere. The hotel is about 2km from the town (it's not much of a town- nothing to see there!) and 2km from silent beach which is a paradise! (take a tuk tuk or walk) Tangalle is a peaceful place with not a lot to do but relax and thehotel facilitated this nicely with sitting out areas and nice food served at all times.

Room Tip: top floor deluxe rooms have lovely sea view
