“Relaxing Stay in Tangalle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

After a 6 hour trip from Colombo airport, we finally arrived in time for dinner. We were knackered, so it was great being served quite fast, our room was ready for us. Charming little B&B, nicely done rooms, very clean. There is no beach at the front but if you walk 10 mins to the little creek, you can have a nice swim. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. they went to but some coconut for us, so we could stay on the day beds and just relaxed. The food was also very nice. Highly recommended, but probably best to land into the airport in the south or take the charter planes if you have the budget.

We stayed 2 nights as part of our cross country trip and it was pure bliss. It was low season, so it felt like having a resort all to ourselves. Coco Tangalla is gorgeous, the pool and beaches are picture perfect and the service is flawless. Our room and bathroom was beautiful, the sounds of the ocean and wildlife makes it even more magical. The super friendly group of staff were perfectly attentive and cooked up wonderful fresh meals that we got to chose from an extensive menu. The dining area and common areas were beautifully arranged and we just felt very well taken care of all the time. The afternoons are best spent in the sofa area upstairs overlooking the ocean and watching the palm trees. You can take long walks around the beaches and the hotel will help you arrange excursions such as to the Rekawa Turtle hatchery nearby. I was recommended Coco Tangalla by a friend who stayed last year, he was right about everything, and now I can only pass on the same recommendation - it is simply a must stay in Sri Lanka. Thank you Coco Tangalla team for a fantastic stay!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the ocean will give you the lovely sound of the waves 24/7, it is worth the experie...

Nothing i could write would ever do justice to this wonderful boutique Hotel/Villa/haven but i`m going to do it anyway.
This place is just stunning, just so beautiful. All the decor, all the public spaces have a unique design. The pool area is wonderful and there`s a private beach.
Our room was just out of this world. We had a palm tree in our bathroom, witch was the size of my living room. Our bed was huge with 3 pillows for each, and the lovely staff cleaned our room twice a day and covered our bed with fresh flowers, in a different and astonishing setting each time.
The breakfast is just so luxurious and classic and the food in general is no less than spectacular.
Whoever you are, whatever kind of trip your'e having, stay at Coco Tangalle. You owe it to yourself, even if it's only for one night. this was definitely a once in a lifetime experience for us; we will treasure our stay here for ever.

Room Tip: The Premium room costs more than the normal ones, but it1s just so nice. It`s huge with a huge bathr...

We stayed 4 nights at the Coco Tangalla and very pleased with
- the decor and design
- british manager who had the staff and place under control
- view from our room (there is only one room with direct sea-front view - and 5 or 6 in total)
- the small no. of guests due to the above no. of rooms
- fantastic atmosphere on the small but long and interesting beach right next to the hotel.

When you go in march the pool is too hot ;)

Room Tip: Book the room with sea view.

Coco Tangalle was the loveliest place we stayed during our 3-weeks holiday in Sri Lanka. It’s a pity we booked for 3 nights only. At Coco we had the best food, met the friendliest people, enjoyed the best service and slept in the most comfortable beds in Sri Lanka. A heartly thank you goes to the staff! There was always a cool breeze during the hot time of the day. Even in a backward room that we were in the street noise was drowned out by the pounding of the sea - what made us sleep very well. Swimming can be uncomfortable at the beach in front of Coco. A 5 minutes walk to the west (along the main road) broad us to a calm and nearly empty public bay with no danger. From Matara a taxi will cost about 3000 Rupies, a Tuk Tuk about 1500 to get to Coco Tangalle. On our next stay in Sri Lanka we will book at Coco again.

Room Tip: Ask for the premium room with the balcony facing the seaside!

We had the most incredibly romantic 3 days at Coco after some friends in Qatar recommended that we come. We stayed in the Premium room which was just beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the pool and the beach and the bathroom built around the feature of a palm tree! All we could hear were crashing waves at night. It was beautifully stylish and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and were so attentive. The only downside was that we asked to stay a 3rd night and were told we could stay in the same room after some confusion. Then the next day we were told we couldn't at the last minute, however the manager did everything he could to make up for it and we were satisfied. The deluxe room perhaps is slightly overpriced in comparison to the premium room, as it is half the size and without a balcony.
Coco doesn't have an alcohol licence so although they may offer a few first complimentary drinks, it is worth buying some from the local town which they recommend, to have with your meal.
Lastly the food is unbelievable and the best we had in Sri Lanka.
