We left Mirissa because it was to crowdy. Arriving in Tangalle is just the opposite. A calm, nice town, where you can experience real sri lankan city live.
Coco Tangalla is paradise on earth. When we will marry, we will definitely ask if it is possible there.
Extraordinary food - ask for the curry - thanks again to the chef
Wonderful designed rooms, which where always lovely decorated - thanks again to the staff
Always help to organize the next step of the travellings - thanks again to Tim & the staff
Beautiful pool with sight to the beach - Amazing
We had a wonderful stay at this well designed boutique hotel.
When we will come again to Sri Lanka, then for visiting the Manor House Hotels.
Tim & his team are the best hosts we can imagine.

We have just spent 6 days at this wonderful small hotel, our party of 8 took over the place and despite not amazing weather we had a wonderful time. Hotel is pretty and the rooms gorgeous. No two rooms the same but all very comfortable. The staff were extremely attentive to our every need, the food excellent, it is situated within walking distance of Tangalle and is quite close to the road but it didn't bother us at all as the sound of the sea at the bottom of the garden was louder! A lovely pool provided good swimming as you cannot swim from the beach.

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite the best with own balcony, behind it lovely double room. Inside hotel, room next to...

Beautiful hotel and lovely experience.
However when one pays ap 300 USD per day and the check out time is 12pm,, the staff could avoid harassing the client to have him pack its stuff early because other tourists are taking over the same room in the afternoon. These comments even started the day before I left and are simply not acceptable!
Moreover I was running out of cigarettes and the staff proposed to go and buy one pack for me. When he was back with the cigarettes, he told me the price was 750 rps - however in all Sri Lanka these cigarettes cost 550 a pack... I tipped him for helping me but I don t appreciate to be fooled like that.

We booked Coco for the last 2 nights of our 3 week trip to Sri Lanka as a treat and that's exactly what it was. It is a beautifully simple colonial house with white walls, pale polished concrete floors throughout with very simple yet elegant furnishings. It's difficult to find fault with this place. The uber comfortable daybeds beside the restaurant look out over the azure pool (which was very warm due to the sun being on it all day) and the gardens leading down to the beach, which is the perfect place to relax day or night and have the gentle breeze and sounds of the waves to listen to. It was made all the more special by the fact we had it all to ourselves and it was just so peaceful - we actually want to live there!!!!!!!!!!! The food prepared for us was delicious the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. I could quite happily have spent more time there. It's also a 10 minute stroll into town if you need anything or just want to stretch your legs. A truly gorgeous place.

Room Tip: It would be a wonderful place to rent the entire house and have some friends stay.

We've just returned from a honeymoon in Sri Lanka (well, not just a honeymoon, ours...) and our final 6 nights were spent at Coco Tangalla (confusingly the town is actually Tangalle but local pronunciation and dialect mean that sometimes people just have a bit of fun with the spelling). After a pretty amazing and life-changing two weeks travelling around this beautiful and fascinating country we really thought we'd experienced the best service and accommodation around, but then we found Coco.
Sometimes a place just has an atmosphere and ambience that makes you go 'yes, we'll be fine here thanks', and as soon as we glided into this elegant house, all whitewashed walls and polished concrete floors, tastefully decorated with a mixture of local sculpture and designer furniture, we knew we'd struck gold (with proof coming from a passion fruit cocktail thrust into our hands).

Dinuka leads a brilliant team of polite, helpful and interesting staff who make every desire their personal quest, and nothing is too much. The food is wonderful, the setting is unbeatable, and th longer we stayed the harder it was for us to leave.

Without wishing to denegrate any of the other places we stayed in Sri Lanka, this place knocks them out of the water (or into the water, depending on where you are). We stayed in a deluxe room for 3 nights, which we loved, but then we were told everyone else was leaving so we had the place to ourselves. Dinuka suggested we take the big room with the terrace (and though normally more expensive let us stay there for no extra charge). This room was just beautiful but you'll have the same experience in all of the rooms. You won't be in the room for long, as the pool and beach will beckon you to lie horizontal all day, with the flatness of your posture interrupted only to be fed three times a day. It's true that most Brits moan about not being able to find a decent cuppa away from home, but you'll find it here, in the home of tea, and for those who can't go without porridge, they'll do that too. In fact, ask for pretty much anything and your wish is Coco's command. Supper is more of a set menu, but always beautiful and always somehow what you wanted. They even gave us free wine (you can bring your own or ask them to source you a bottle locally).

We've realised we don't want to say in hotels on trips like these: you'll always feel like a bit of a spare part and after some slightly tense exchanges with exasperated managers, this felt like we'd come home (except to a massive version of our home with people cooking for you and perfect weather all day).

You can hire the whole house if you feel like going with a group of friends or family, and hopefully we'll be back next year to do just that.

I could write more but all you really want to know is this: GO TO COCO.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, though do splash out on the superior deluxe room for the private terrace.

What an amazingly beautiful hotel. The setting, the decor, the view - it's all picture perfect. And yet it's also such a relaxed place you easily find yourself lounging on one of the sofas, legs hanging over the back, drink in one hand, book in the other, just like I would on a Sunday afternoon back home. Of course the view is much better here!

It's a small hotel, only 6 rooms so even when it's full it doesn't feel crowded in any way.

The staff are all so friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Of all the places I've stayed in Sri Lanka this is the best place by a long way. Everything just seems naturally perfect. It feels like a secret idyll you've discovered that you don't want to share! Lovely lovely lovely...

On a side note we found a brilliant local tour guide - Sriyanga Sanjeewa, tel +94 (0) 77 850 5336 / email sawsiritango@yahoo.com. We went to Yala National Park for a very good price and he was brilliant. We even saw the elusive leopard. Wished we'd booked our whale watching trip with him too.

Room Tip: We had one of the 2 rooms facing the pool and could hear the waves on the beach as we slept. Perfect...

Those four days, what we have spent in this hotel, were so relaxed and beautiful. We will never forget this stay in such a nice place with very nicely designed interiors and carefully cleaned rooms. It looks like you immerse yourself into a luxury, but still feeling free and have nothing to worry about. The meals was great (both: Eastern and Western cuisines) and put on the table in a stylish way.
We chose this hotel for our wedding and can hardly imagine we could find a better place in Sri Lanka for such an occasion. Dear Annie and all Coco Tangalla team, you are amazing and the best, thank you so much.
