If you would like to eat a Sri Lankan feast, cooked from scratch to order, in the company of a genuine family this is the place.the location is not grand, the premises humble (though very clean and tidy) but the welcome is huge and the food wonderful. We ordered a prawn curry with yellow rice and a chicken curry rice meal and this came with six vegetable side dishes (okra, beans, Dahl, sambal etc) When we finished one of the side dishes they refilled it, but we had more than enough there anyway. The food was lovely, it wasnt heated so it will cool in time, just sit down and enjoy. the family are charming, and interested to talk to us as we were to them. It was like being in their home as VIP guests. Two or three cats appeared who were no trouble and did not belong to the restaurant.there were mozzies about and they lit two mosquito coils.didn't use the toilets so can't comment. We chose this restaurant from the tripadvisor recommendations in the area due to its high rating and were so glad we searched it out. Oh, and of course, very good value, all that, 3 drinks, 2000 LKR / £10. Look at the bus station, look into the car park to the right, look to to back in right corner, under the communications mast.Thank you Prem for a very memorable evening.

If you want really tasty and authentic Sri Lankan Curries, this is the place to go. Prices are tourist prices. It is a must to order a couple of hours in advance. "Prem" is not like a regular restaurant, more like home entertainment. Saman, the host, is a really nice guy, but he tends to get lost in conversation - or whatever. Ordering a cup of tea and having it actually on the table is a process that might take 30 mins. (they use milk powder for the tea). Getting the bill, paying and waiting for change: another half hour. The guys on the table next to us ordered sandwiches - more than an hour. The stuff that came out of the kitchen finally looked like pretty ordinary toast. While we were there (lunch), someone from the kitchen had to go shopping about five times. If Saman is not in the mood, nobody is in charge and the place is on autopilot -- circling mode. You might be more lucky than we were, but you have been warned. We would still go back there, because the curries are superb. Five points for the food! By the way: they also do cooking classes.

This is a family run place which serves up real home made food and you won't find a much better curry in Sri Lanka.

I had curry every night on my trip and this place stands out as one of the best. It's worth making the trip from the beach into town that's for sure.

We had the best fish rice and curry at this lovely family restaurant. Saman is a nice guy and his wife is a great cook! The place is at a rather unexpected location near the bus station but once you get inside it is nicely decorated. The whole family welcomes you and makes sure you have a good time. They also do a cooking class. Would definitely recommend this place!

We went to this place for a dinner and spent great hours. We recommend this place if you want to get a glimpse into regular Sri Lankan life and enjoy fresh local food, simple and delicious. Everything is made by hand from scratch and takes ca. an hour to prepare - it might be worth pre-ordering your menu in advance. Try especially eggplant curry prepared by the host's wife - it is great! Though there is little hope for privacy as the host, his wife, uncles and cats stop for a regular chat, they were such nice people and shared a lot of privat stories with us - many thanks for this!
