We stayed at Green Garden for a week at the beginnning of August and it was the most relaxing, fantastically hospitable place we stayed in Sri Lanka (we travelled around for a month). We chose it over Palm Paradise and never looked back. It was amazing!

The staff are incredible and would do anything to make your stay just a little more enjoyable. For example, they come round every evening and if you're sitting outside they will light mosquito repellant coils for you. They always have a smile on their faces and will help you arrange tours, learn more about the local area,or just cook you the most amazing food. If you go, have the lobster. Unbelievable and fresh from the sea that day. In particular, Manoj is the nicest and smiliest host possible.

The cabanas are spacious and comfortable with good hot showers and loads of storage space. There are also very nice verandas where you can sit and enjoy the gardens.

The beach is about a 1 minute walk away (you can hear the waves from the cabanas), and the middle of the three restaurants is the one to go to. The beach is incredibly beautiful and one of the only ones in the local area where you can swim safely. There are rocky outcrops at either end, and we took a walk one day and found some buffalo in the stream nearby.

Can't recommend Green Garden any more.

Room Tip: Any Cabana. You don't need AC, there's a really nice ocean breeze.

Ended up here after another booking fell through - was more than happy with my stay.

- 2 nights in an 'apartment' style room, felt that the price of the room was expensive but offered more value than a Cabana.
- Room was comfortable enough with a small veranda.
- Food was delicious but the service was slow. Didn't like you straying from the fixed menu at breakfast.
- Goyambokka beach is 2 min walk, best beach I've ever visited.

Our original booking with palm paradise fell through so as a result we checked into green garden cabanas. In fact we were more than delighted that the mistake made us stumble on this little local owned gem.

There are 4 cabanas and a further 8 apartments at the back so a smallish set up. The cabanas are cute, stable and well built. They could do with being updated but overall pretty comfortable and spacious!
Note: they are cabanas so are open to the elements, be prepared for creatures and bugs to venture in and say hello!!

The eating area is lovely, largely because of the friendly staff that look after you. We spent most of our evenings sitting there reading and chatting to the family. Food is delicious, from rice and curry to their wood fired pizza we really enjoyed both the quality and service.

The husband and wife duo along with their team (largely relatives of the family) really do make you feel at home, in fact it was probably the most comfortable I felt all holiday. The garden and grounds are great for relaxing very peaceful with hammocks, ponies and dogs wandering round and the opportunity to have hand picked coconuts straight from the trees!

The beach is 5 mins walk away down a small path so is very close and convenient.
Highly recommended and a huge thank you for making us feel so welcome and taking us via tuk tuk to our next location near Yala!!!

This Is a beautiful place in tangalle. A small family runs the resort. Good rooms. The best pizza in Sri Lanka!! Very friendly people. Talk good English. If you stay longer you will be like one in the family. The beach is wonderful. Goyambokka beach. Only a few people there. If you like the sound of the birds and nature, this is the place. This is paradise..

Unfortunately the shower was cold and the toilet didnt flush in our room. We didnt have the chance to move rooms as we arrived really late so all we wanted to do was sleep. Shortly after we got in bed the place had a power cut which meant that the fan went off in the room so we were really hot and couldnt sleep. Then the emergency generator kicked in and although we had the fan back, the generator was really noisy so we still couldnt sleep! Eventually they seemed to sort the power cut out and we got some sleep.
The hotel is next to a really quite beach so there are no ammenities nearby.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a hot shower and the toilet flushes!

This is a small family hotel with only four private cabanas with good sized rooms, large verandahs and privacy. The cabanas are old, worn and could use a facelift...but they have everything you need in basic accommodation. They are light and airy and there were no mosquitoes when we were there so we kept all our windows open with the fan on and were comfortable without a/c.

Food is very good, especially Sri Lankan and breakfasts. Pizzas are good as a change. The staff try hard and are keen to help.

The cabanas are a fair value basic Sri Lankan accommodation. Being only a two minute walk from the glorious beach is a real plus. And it is quiet - no thumping disco noise anywhere. And the entire atmosphere is real and not tailored to tourist whims. the grounds are charming and spacious as are the two horses and the well behaved dogs.

We much preferred this place to the westernised foreign owned and managed places around the area - which cost twice as much and seemed to offer a lot of western food.

We would be happy to go again.

The walk to Silent Beach is easy - 10 minutes, but it is for strong and confident swimmers only. However the empty beach invites you to read and snooze under the palms. The closer Goyombokka Beach is easier for swimming and just as lovely. It was nice to have two good beaches so close.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the most private cabana. The new stone cabana is perhaps smaller and a bit hot. The eigh...
