Friends told us to spend our holidays here. And it was the best decision to listen to them. Everyhting was perfect. The cabanas, the restaurant, kitchen, staff, beach, wildlife and so on. We had great fun, going on a safari to Yala and watching turtles nighttime.
Mangrove Beach Cabanas is the pick in the latest Lonely Planet. So book in advance, it will become hard to get a room there. www.beachcabana.lk
We wish you a nice holiday

I have traveled to many places of the world and I think so far this has been the most peaceful sea front accommadation I have set foot in. Everything you see is just beautiful, It's almost like crafted by nature itself.

The food served is so fresh, I was given the opportunity to cook my own dish with the chef, that itself is a one time experience for me.

I highly recommend Mangrove Beach Cabanas to any nature loving traveler..

Beautiful Cabanas (5) set on a prestine strech of beach. Cabanas have private bathroom
lokated under your own cabana. Has good restaurant (crab/honey lime pancakes) with very helpful staf.

One of the first set of modern cabanas to spring up since the tsunami devastation of this area. Surely more to come, but if the developments are undertaken with this level of care, the area should retain its status as a tranquil paradise. The simple individual bamboo beach huts house the living space sitting above a sunken modern wetroom en-suite accessed via a trap door. A roomy veranda and sufficient space between cabanas means you retain some privacy on what is essentially a small site. Privacy was not, ultimately, an issue; only 3 of the 7(?) cabanas were occupied and a step from the veranda onto the beach offered no sign of life for miles either side. Ideal for peace and solitude…and for the turtles which make frequent visits to the beach when in season…but after a couple of days we felt a little stir crazy. Only a small section of the beach was safe to swim in, when the tide was right, and the 1 hour walk down the beach to town- and safe swimming -could only be recommended to Englishmen and mad dogs. The service and food however could not be knocked, fresh fish and cold beer readily available. Many of the beach resorts rely on the sea breeze to keep you cool at night, however mechanical assistance would have been preferable on those barmy April nights. After a couple of days we did move across town to the established Palm Paradise Beach Cabanas, which provided a little more atmosphere and a sheltered beach, but I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to experience this small well run enclave and the tranquillity that it brings, because once it gets into the handbooks, it will be deservedly overrun.
