“Loved this hotel”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights 12-15 Feb as part of a tour of Sri Lanka

room.....fab room set out in a chalet style with individual Lilly ponds at the front and ponds around the block where you would see turtles, fish and land lizards strolling by. Big room and great bathroom with bath and large walk in shower. Air con excellent so much so had to switch it off also a fan on the ceiling to switch on if you want. TV,mini bar, hair dryer, safe in room. Amazingly clean room

Restaurant/bar...... Great choice at the restaurant . Breakfast plenty of fresh fruit and amazing porridge, also indian option curry for breakfast along with bacon and eggs . Evening meal again great choice, meat and fish cooked on grill, usual indian options, great veg and good salads. Desserts looked nice but I don't eat dessert much
It was my birthday whilst I was there and the rep arranged a cake with candles and the restaurant all sang happy birthday, made my day. Bar had plenty of choice but as all of Sri Lanka hotels slow service. Just order in plenty of time and chill.

Grounds. . . . Amazing grounds nice to walk around and spot all manner of wildlife. Plenty of monkeys, birds, chipmunks, lizards, fireflies turtles and amazing foliage and flowers. Also kept spotlessly clean. Amazing view of Sigiyra rock from the pool

Pool....nice pool, not big but great for small swim and to cool off.
Location...good for Dambulla,Lion rock (must climb amazing ) and Polonnaruwa

Spa....booked a massage . As nice as the staff were unhappy that she would not say what oils she was using and massage not good. Also could hear everything. Sing said in next treatment room and Mosquitos flying about who bit me on my face .

Final mention for the room boy ( sorry didn't get name ) who decorated my bed Happy Birthday with flowers and stems from the grounds. THANK YOU.

Wish I could have stayed longer but had to move on

Fantastic, large room - with complimentary fruit basket. Loads of food to choose from at the buffet. Great bar area to chill before/after your walk up the rock. Amazing view of the rock from the swimming pool.

Set in such beautiful grounds with amazing views of the rock. Monkeys are a fun addition to your stay. There are a lot of trainee staff which could do with more guidance.
Top tips Order you drink before going to your table for diner as the service is very slow
Try to hang on to your plate while eating your diner as the staff are very keen to clear plates even if you are still eating.
Have your shower early or no hot water

Room Tip: ask for a room near the main reception as lighting is an issue

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Location is excellent; within sight of the rock. The pool was lovely and just the right size for the number of guests.
My room was a villa with a lily pond outside. Huge, spotlessly clean and with the best air conditioning of any of the 7 hotels I stayed at in Sri Lanka.

This hotel is situated in very impressive grounds which resemble a botanical gardens. The rooms are all single story cabins set in clusters in the gardens. It could be a bit of a stretch to the restaurant and bar for somebody who is not so mobile. There is a very impressive view of the rock from the pool area

The cabins are large, clean and fairly basic in a beautiful setting. You can watch the troop of monkeys settling down for the night from your terrace. A/C but no TV. Bathrooms are modern with a good shower.

Food was very good, lots of choice and good service in the open sided restaurant area.

We enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: Try to get nearer the main buildings if you are physically challenged.

This hotel is located close to Lions Rock, you can see it from the pool area. It's essentially a series of chalet rooms. The rooms all have a/c and a room safe. Our room was less than a five minute walk from the reception/dining area but there were others further away, which means if it rains and it did, that there is a fair chance of getting wet when heading for dinner or to go on a day trip. The room was fairly basic - most of the furniture was fairly worn, one of the light fittings was partially melted and some of the paint was chipped. It served the purpose but I'm sure that there is better places to stay in this area.

We continued our Archers Coach tour by spending two nights at the Sigiriya Village Hotel. Check-in, Reception Area, Room, services all excellent.
The hotel is ideally placed for a visit to the Lion's Rock.
We ate in the buffet style restaurant which was plentiful with an amazing choice of local and International dishes.
This was a very quiet hotel with good quality, clean chalets and we slept well.
The breakfast was a mixture of Sri Lankan and European food and was all well presented and in copious measures. This hotel created a good example of Sri Lankan food and hospitality. Try their speciality cocktail, Kassapa's Surprise, it's beautiful!

Room Tip: Try to get a chalet near to reception as the lighting on the paths is not good (or take a torch with...
