We were in sigiriya village for 2 nights,(21st and 22 Dec2013) the hotel has a spectacular property, the buffet breakfast area overlooks the sigiriya rock, although the staff always looks very welcoming but they are so preoccupied during season time that it almost feels like u have just paid for the property and not for the services. It’s a better option to just veg out in the pool area and not indulge in their massage; we have booked ourselves for a complete body package which also felt like a rip for your money.

The pictures on the website don't do this place justice. The hotel is comprised of bungalows spread out across a lovely large area. The rooms are very nice - big, clean and modern. The food was great and the service excellent (given that there aren't too many choices for restaurants around, I'd book the half board). This is 5 mins from the entrance of Sigirya - you could just walk there. Had a great experience here and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room a little further from the main building (rooms 200 and above) to enjoy the quiet - in...

We arrived at the Sigiriya Hotel after a very long drive from Colombo and visits to various sites, during which my wife started being sick; no sooner had we got into the hotel room than this turned into sickness and diarrhoea, which made a mess of the room. I can not praise too highly the effective and willing support we received from Anthony, the Manager, and his staff. They sent food down for me; they arranged a change of room; they organised a doctor and transport to the local hospital; Anthony and his accountant Dharmassri turned up at the hospital later and insisted on staying until my wife was released, so they could take us back to the hotel; then Anthony helped me to move our luggage into the new room (at about 12.30 am); Dharmassi picked up the prescription for us the next morning, and the staff sent food down for my wife. Their genuine concern continued until we left after 2 nights, and was much appreciated.
The hotel itself is in a lovely, quiet natural setting, with a view of the Sigiriya rock from the attractive pool area. The mini-lake is a beautiful sight, especially at night when it is floodlit.
I am happy to recommend this hotel.

our room was set in the middle of a large and beautiful garden of mature trees.
airy, spacious and comfortable bed.
very convenient for the rock.
food was fairly average, and staff amongst the least friendly in SL.

What a tranquil spot from which to explore this section of the Cultural Triangle. The hotel reminded us of the better sort of game park accommodation in South Africa,- spacious dining area and bar beneath thatched roof with the sides open to a swimming pool on one side and the bungalows and gardens to the other. The food was good, bar staff were great, the bungalow comfortable (though ours needed a bit of an upgrade on the wall hangings behind the bed). The strength of this place was undoubtedly its staff. When one of our friends was ill, nothing was too much trouble,- a change of rooms, room service and the manager himself even accompanied our friend to the hospital, bringing extra bedding!!, and staying with her and her husband until she was discharged a few hours later. The location, with Sigiriya Rock as backdrop to the gardens and a wonderful pool full of lotus and wildlife to the side, is a lovely spot for this hotel. We'd warmly recommend this place.

This is a great base for discovering the jewels of the area. Rooms are well conceived and maintained, with the spacing that gives you a real sense of "retreat" from large hotel options. Restaurant & pool are dominated by a view of the wonderful Sigirya rock, and the massage at the spa was one of the best I have had, ever. Good eastern/western food selections at buffet, but I would recommend eating at the Sri Lankan side. Great tastes with spicing ratings enough to give you confidence of not trying something too spicy,....at first. Enjoy it!

We stayed in Sigirya Village for two nights and it was a great place to chill out and relax by the pool as well as being very close to Lion Rock. The pool area was lovely and tranquil. The restaurant setting was large and the buffet had amazing selection for both breakfast and dinner. Our room was very basic but for what we paid it was clean and comfortable so I would not complain. I would stay here again.
