Charming set up with individual chalets. Set in clusters these had been renovated and were to a good standard. No wifi but tv was fine.
Slight problem with wild life in some of our party's rooms - frogs, dead mouse, gekkos etc. Nothing serious though.
View from restaurant of the rock was good. Food less so and, at best, average.
Pool, bar area and grounds all to a good standard.

We stayed here as the first leg of our trip to Sri Lanka. Had airport pickup organized by the hotel (155 USD, too expensive), and the hotel manager called us already in the car to enquire if we had arrived well. Very good. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and well kept, service overall good. Key thing here is to address anything out of the ordinary directly to management, they have been very responsive, the lower level staff are quickly outside their comfort zone.

My "depends" is related to the quality of rooms. We had bookes superior cottage and had been booked into one of the cottages closer to the reception (room numbers 140-159). These are older, have a musty smell, damp spots on the decoration, and not very nice, but still large and functional. On the 3rd day of our stay, the showerhead exploded and hot steam came out of the shower. After my complaint to management we got immediately "upgraded" to one of the cottages further back (room numbers from 200), and what a difference!! Much newer, much better decorated, with a nice veranda, modern bathrooms. For me, Sigiriya Village deserves 4 stars for these rooms, only 2 for the others, that's why I gave a three rating.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Helpful management, the food a careful balance between Eastern (mostly very spicy) and western (rather bland) food, very nice setting, beautiful views. Wifi very slow, almost useless.

The hotel is in a good location for visiting the Lion Rock, which you can see form the hotel. It is an average 3-star hotel. The rooms are big, but there is no TV and no wifi in the rooms. We tried the buffet and it was OK.

We had lunch at this hotel. Nice pool and view. However, food was truly dreadfull. We had curry with chickens and beef. Meat was very bad quality, chewy and gristle. So much so we couldn't eat it and had to send it back. The reaction of the staff indicated that they were quite used to complaints over the quality of the food and encouraged us to complete a feedback form for management. This hotel really needs to improve its food offering. Our taxi driver told us that he regularly has passengers who complain about the bad quality of food at this hotel.

I visited this Hotel just for a night with a few of my friends while planning to climb the Lion Rock. The moment you come to the Hotel you are sold by the Magnificent View of the Majestic Sirigiya Rock, too bad the Rooms are not designed to take a peek outside.. Its just covered in a bushy like environment.. The Staff was friendly and very helpful.. Even the General Manager had a little chat with us.. Friendly Fellow.. ! must say,. Only complain about the Restaurant is that the Al a Carte orders took a little longer than we expected.. but the food was great.. Buffet was acceptable for the price we paid for the stay.,. Room and the Bathroom Were Spotlessly clean... Too bad we had a small TV with limited Channels.. Not really what i expected.. The Atmosphere Calm and Green.

We spend three nights and had a great time. The hotel is like a village in the middle of the jungle with lots of little bungalows. Ours had a huge and new bathroom. Within walking distance to the sigiriya rock. Very peaceful and quite. Staff is very friendly. We organised a safari with them and it was a fabulous experience; the spa is also good. But hands off the a la carte menu - the buffet is much better quality!! Bike rental prizes are ridiculous - especially considering the state of the bikes ... All in all a great experience!
