“Nice location and good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

We stayed in Sigirya for the first 4 nights of our Sri Lanka trip. The location is perfect for Elefant rides, Sigiriya rock and the ancient city's.

We spend Christmas there and they made a lot of effort to it, which was very nice.

The food is ok, but the buffet only starts at 7.30, which was too late for our children because they need to be in bed at that time. That's why we ordered of the menu. The service was good, but the food unfortunately not, probably because everybody ordered it, but I got food poisoning from it....

Over all, the pool, the bungalows, the location and the staff were good!

The hotel is very close to Sigiriya Rock. The rooms are one story villas set in gardens. It is a lovely setting and the main lodge has a great tropical feel. In the gardens we were able to see monkeys, garden monitors and birds. The room was very damp and the AC could not be left on when you left the room, as the room key controled the electricity. Some of the interior lights were burnt out so it was imossible to read a book in bed at night. The TV was little and in a far corner, so nearly impossible to see from the bed as well. The brekfast and dinner buffets were very good.

nice place, nice location, swimming pool and ayurvedic centre, monkeys around, but...it's all a bit old, and the rooms stink of mold - plus, 90 USD it's a bit expensive in my opinion. Restaurant with buffet dinner was very very good.

Probably the worst hotel we stayed in Lanka.

Service was so so. Everyone seemed lost.

Was told to wait at least 15 minutes for a welcome drink.

Could have been a good concept of rooms with a village setting but pathway to rooms are badly lit and its mosquitos galore.

Rooms are so basic. You would think that at least tea and coffee making facilities would be a standard - but not here.

You can also see your neighbours bathroom from your bathroom!

Worst of all was the food. Dinner service opens at 7.30 - a bit too late. Guests were queuing waiting for dinner to start. Food was some of the worst I've ever had ever.

Breakfast was equally bad. Opens at 6.30. Should probably open earlier considering the Sigiriya Rock site opens at 7. Most dishes were not ready at 6.30.

Service at restaurant was only average.

Would not recommend this hotel.

Great location and nice concept of rooms in little huts down pathways but the pathways were very badly lit and as it rained non-stop for our stay, we couldn't see the enormous puddles on the path. Also there weren't enough umbrellas in the hotel and we often had to manage without.
The roof leaked in the room and my son plugged in a phone to charge and got a bad electric shock from the socket which shorted the electricity - very dangerous. The shower was poor, with very low water pressure and the lighting in the room almost non-existent.
Staff were friendly but busy. The food was ok. This hotel has potential but needs a lot more investment and thought about what the customer needs.

The hotel is placed in a great local. Very close to the "rock" and in thee middle of a lusty and very nice nature. But the rooms are a bit old and there's renovation to do. Prices are good but on the high side. The restaurant offer a wide range of Sri Lankan choices.
The service at the bar and restaurant was average except when you got attended by trainees that were very helpful and smiling. The more senior staff was uncaring...it's a shame because this place could be perfect.

Stayed here for 3 days before Christmas and the hotel was fully booked, but we got an excellent service anyway. There is a lot of attentive staff to take care of you in the restaurant and the breakfast and dinner buffet was good and varied.

The pool is nice and the rooms quite big, but a bit outdated. Great location - close to Lions rock.

Wifi in the reception area was not working properly - it was very slow.
