“Great place and loved the treehouse!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We loved our stay at Lakmini Lodge! Chandi is a fabulous host, he absolutely wants to make sure that you make the most of your time in Sigiriya and helps you arrange anything. It was busy with some building works whilst we were there but that did not disrupt our stay there at all. And the treehouse is amazing!! What a fabulous view over Sigiriya Rock whilst having dinner or breakfast!! The rooms are basic but also cheap so we would absolutely stay at Lakmini Lodge again in future. The kids loved it too especially our youngest who got to ride Chandi's tuk tuk!!

Chandi was always very helpful and took time to explain in full about ways to access local sights. The Lodge was busy but we saw him give the same attention to all of his guests. The food was plentiful and was good. The lookout from the Tree House where you also have breakfast is stunning. I spent much time there looking across to Lion Rock, watched the wild peacocks, and many other colourful birds. The rooms are very basic but adequate. We would return and recommend. Overall a lovely stay.

We stayed at Lakmini Lodge for a couple of days in july 2013 and liked it very much. It's very tranquile and the tree-house is magnificant to have breakfast or to sip a beer, while watching the sunset above The Rock. Dinner is fabulous. The owner, Chady, is a very nice guy and very helpfull: he arranges just everything you want. So I recommend this place very much!

Chandi, the owner, is probably the nicest host, we met in Sri Lanka. He is such a helpful person. He answered all our questions, helped us getting to train station, woke us up to see wild elephants... Just an amazing host. The rooms are pretty basic, but if you are not very demanding, its the perfect stay. The tree house is just amazing place to have dinner, see animals, and to relax. Lions rock is just in front of you. The double room was 2000 Rupees/night. You can also borrow a bicycle, free of charge. It is good way to see the surroundings of sigiriya, and to get a beer for a beer bar :).

If you are tight on budget, i recommend visiting Pidurangala rock instead of Lions rock, since Pidurangala has 200 Rupees admission, and Lions Rock 30 $ (around 4000 rupees), but the view is for my taste even better in Pidurangala, not to mention the crowdiness. On Pindurangala i was on top with 3 people, and on Lions rock with 300. I went on both, but i fancy Pindurangala more - Ask Chandi for instructions, how to get there with bike.

The rooms are basic. Bit expensive for what you get. The showers are a bit dangerous, the showerhead was dangerously close to an exposed lightbulb. No blankets provided.

Location

The owner was very business minded which I didn't like, so I left after a day.

I stayed here for one night, to see Sigirya rock. The room was clean and comfortable with a very nice ensuite. The owner is a really nice chap - genuine and very helpful. The view of the rock from the treehouse is an added extra. Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay here.

Superb budget place, ideal for backpackers who are looking for a sociable place to meet other travellers. The owner is exremely friendly, he is allways there when you need some assistance. He even gave us a free ride to sigiriya rock and organised our visit to the dambulla cave tempels. The rooms are basic but clean with optional aircon. From the treehouse in the garden you have excellent view to the sigiriya rock. We definetly reccomend this guesthouse.
