We had a really good time staying in the Lakmini Lodge which was recommended by friends. Especially the staff and the tree house with an amazing view are unique for this lodge. The owner is really nice and friendly and helpful.

Im Mark andrew, im from hong kong, i was stay 3 nights there, coz lakmini lodge is so quiet place to stay have have rest, chandi is the ower and he is caring about us like a family. room was realy clean, there have few kind of rooms. we could have good room, its dippending on how much u pay for the room, there have fully white double rooms, those are super and i was stay there. and mr chandi bring us to the sigiriya antrance by his tuck tuck, its free. and his wife and daughter cooking our meant, its realy super and delicious. and i realy worry abt the comment of 106. its realy lie, coz i had a experions of 3 nights there, so its not good to say like that to mr chandi or lakmini lodge, coz he is very honest also helping us,

Not sure who is writing all of these positive tripadvisor reviews, I was extremely disappointed by this hotel.
The room was fine, but the sheets were dirty (blood on my pillowcase), the mosquito net was too small for the bed, and there was no hot water when I had been told there would be. All rooms are on the ground floor so you are very close to nature (frog in my bathroom).
I was told that the hotel would have wifi, but it turns out that you can only get wifi at the hotel owner's shop, which is down the road, and when I was there this wifi was not even working. Nothing is on the hotel grounds it seems, I asked for water but it was pouring rain and they had to wait until the rain stopped to go all the way to the shop to get it. I needed toilet paper around 10pm but the owner was nowhere to be found and there was no one I could ask.

My main issue was with the owner, who seemed very scheming and dishonest. He was very pushy in asking me to write a positive review online. I also didn't appreciate being told there would be hot and internet and not getting either...
The other issue was the creepy man who works at the hotel. As the owner refers to him "the servant." Always smelled like liquor and was extremely creepy. Felt uncomfortable sleeping with my window open (on the ground floor) mainly because of this man.

Otherwise the hotel is in a good location, very close to Sigiriya rock, and on a quiet little road off the main road. Would recommend having dinner at one of the little restaurants on the main road rather than at the lodge. Dinner is served at a communal table where everyone staying at the hotel sits together. Food is nothing special, and the small places on the main road are a lot more charming.

BUT, for 2000 LKR a night, it's not too bad. But definitely wouldn't pay more than that...

This was probably our best stay in Sri Lanka. As some other wrote before - we planned to stay just 1 night, but at the end we had 3 nights in this awesome guesthouse. Owner Chandi is extremely friendly, you can ask him for all trips (safari...) and he will arrange you better price. He was probably the only guy in Sri Lanka that refused our tip for his kindness at the end :) tree house is really spectacular and best place for breakfast in the morning or tea in the afternoon. If you are going to Sigiriya don't miss this place! If you are coming with tuktuk from Dambulla tell the driver you already booked that place (even if you didn't), because owner doesn't pay commission to them (because he wants to keep his price low as he can) and they will try to drag you to some other place. Chandi if you read this - thank you for everything and greetings from Slovenia!

Lakmini Lodge is a very good budget guest house near Sigiriya Rock. It is located off the main road in a very quiet, relaxing location. It has a nice garden. Breakfast is served in a treehouse with a spectacular view of Sigiriya. Dinner included excellent selection of curries served in a convivial common table with other guests. The owner, Chandi, is a very friendly fellow who enjoys showing off his new grandchild. He also took us to the Rock for free in his tuk-tuk. Rooms are quite comfortable with welcome AC.

The owner Chandi and his family could not be more accommodating. They look after you very well without any pressure. They cooked food to our wishes for good spicy Sri Lankan veggie. They helped us organise excursions and to save money on our trips. The view from their tree house(seating 8 easily for breakfast) was amazing. Very central and with reasonable prices, there can't be better accommodation with better hosts anywhere in Polonurawa.

Room Tip: There are two rooms in a separate block near the tree house. They are more private and, although spa...

I originally planned on staying one night, I stayed seven.
What an amazing place. Everything about it is great. Clean, great location, delicious food and good price. The view from the tree house is worth alone the stay. But what makes it truly special is the family. Chandy goes to tremendous lengths to make your trip a memorable one, he is such a good person. And my Sri Lankan mother really took me in as her son and made sure I was feeling great during my stay. The Baaaaby is the cutest baby hehe.
I hope I can someday go back again.
