Challenging for our driver to find off a winding country dirt road but well worth the ride! We arrived after dark to an enchanting water garden vista. Our bungalow was equally a treat the highlight of which was the private outdoor splash pool off our patio. It is a very new hotel with great attention to detail. The restaurant was also amazing, some of the best food I've had. Very good chef! The staff were also excellent. I left my sunglasses behind and they followed up with the tour company, found our next hotel and had one of their staff deliver them the following day. We only stayed at Water Gardens for two nights but next time it will be for much longer! BTW, the spa is very good too. Had a facial and aruvedic massage.

We came here for our honeymoon. We made the reservation in November for March and the price were quite a good deal because the property is still new and not famous.

The property is beautiful and has the perfect view on both sigiriya rocks. The bungalow is just amazing, beautiful and modern decoration, lot of small detail (Marshall Bluetooth speaker, bathroom accessories, etc) + the private pool! Because we were in the back of the property, we had the best view on the rocks and enough privacy to be naked in the pool. We had the half board plan and were really surprised by the quality of the meals.

The diners were just amazing and compete with any fancy restaurant we have in New York. The breakfast were really generous. I will have preferred more options but it was really great for 2 days there.

The cocktails were also very good and quite cheap.

Last but not least, the service was perfect.

Room Tip: Ask for bungalow 25 or any in the back of the property (more privacy when using the private pool)

I almost don't want to write this review because it's a hidden gem that does great deals. But they deserve the good publicity.

I rate this 10/10. No question about it!!!!!! Please open one on the west coast and show off your brand. It puts the other so called 5 star hotels to shame!

Basic villa is actually massive and well kitted out. This is prestigious, luxury, deluxe (all the words that other hotels in Sri Lanka use very loosely). Fabulous setting and views of the rock and paddy fields.
Staff are excellent. Well trained. The Shanga la and others should lean from the staff here!

I would enjoy this place even in rainy season. It's beautiful.
The restaurant has panoramic views. On the first night it rained and the thunder and lightening was spectacular to watch. The next day, sunny. Even on the terrace, where most holidayers want to be had fans above the tables, so no sweating!!!
Chef is very good and has a good team around him.

Drinks reasonably priced for its bracket.

Spa deals are great. Two for one etc.....and the occasion free sample.

Golf buggy transport to your villa (handy if there is a shower).

Tip: do book half board, it's worth more than the additional price when booking online with the room. It produces great food.
You would need a driver if you were to eat out. But you should not eat out. It's good here.

Tip: don't bother paying for an upgrade room unless you really want it. The basic villas are quality and large in size with more stuff than you would expect. It's better than the pictures suggest on the websites.

Tip: look out for the deals that they offer.

Tip: Stay the extra night if you can, it's a cut above the rest and central to the safari and the rock....30 min drive. If you don't have a driver (you should). However, tours available via the hotel. Slightly dearer than a private driver can get it for, but you do get cold towels and picnic for some hotel excursions. So no deal breaker either way.

To the staff, keep up the good work. Thankyou for a pleasurable stay.
I would love to see your hotels pop up all over the world. You know what a customer requires and you do it at reasonable rates. I can't find any negatives!

Well done indeed!!!!

I would love to keep in touch with the hotel and follow its journey to more success!

Note: my reviews can be harsh at times. Giving this a 10/10 implies greatness!!!

I have been fortunate enough to have stayed in some wonderful hotels but few would be able to compare with the Water Garden Sigiriya.
An exceptional design hotel located on 35 acres it is most definitely worth the detour: the villas are a tribute to thoughtful and up-to-the-minute design; the staff is respectful, attentive and well-trained; the physical location of the property is exquisite; and I would be hard-pressed to list another location where you could peacefully watch two peacocks spend an hour strutting and preening for the attention of one (uninterested) pea-hen.

Room Tip: Although I am sure the villas that have a private pool are lovely the hotel pool was quiet, well situated and peaceful.

This is definitely one of my favourite hotels in Sri Lanka. We booked the villa with swimming pool: large and spacious rooms, beautiful decoration.
The strong point of this hotel is the restaurant, the meals are delicious.
A special mention of the staff which provide an exceptional service. Thank you so much for contributing to our great holidays in Sri Lanka!
