We visited this hotel a while ago and it exceeded our expectations!
The rooms are comfortable and clean but the special thing about this place is the location! The air is so clean and the surrounding is breathtaking! The pool is amazing!

The aesthetics are quite good and so is the staff who made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The vilas are spread apart and it takes a while to hop around the property. The rooms are really huge but kind of felt empty, but i give full marks to the guy who designed the bathrooms. it was a novelty. The view from the lobby and the front park of the lake is amazing and is the USP. The staff in the dining area was wonderful with a tall Sri Lankan lady in total control of things. She took great care of our culinary delights. The wifi is non existent in the rooms and can be a sore point today's tech environment. overall a delight to be in midst of nature.

This hotel is one of the best hotels visited in Sri Lanka in terms of beauty. Everything is stunning, from the bathroom to the view over the lakes it is incredible.

Unfortunately it is clear that all funding has gone towards its aesthetic side. There were quite a few issues that became apparent.

The lights were often flicking on and off throughout the day and night. This is a shame because it broke a camera battery it was happening so often, and this meant the air conditioning wasn’t on throughout the day (but it was still cool enough when you first entered the room)

The water was very weak and took a long time to heat up and at times completely cut out in the middle of the shower.

For anyone with disabilities I don’t think it would be possible to stay here. From the lobby to our room it probably took 5-10 minutes in the heat, up stair cases and it was very easy to get lost. For the unfit it isn’t an enjoyable experience either

There is wifi but it is pretty much non existent. The highest bar is one bar and the wifi itself is really weak so there’s no point in using it. You’re too far away to use data so there’s a very slim chance (if you’re staying in the room we stayed in) that you will be able to connect online.

BUT the view wherever you are is fantastic, and whoever designed the bathrooms I commend. There are a few really small extras that push my rating down to three stars, too many which are too small to write out.

I would recommend you come for a drink and a swim but be prepared to miss a shower and tech time.
I can’t express how good things look. You will feel you’re in a 5 star hotel but once you look into functionality it leaps back down to a 3 or 4 star place

The hotel is located right across the road from a scenic water tank. It's in close proximity to the historic Polonnaruwa town and two wild life parks.

We initially booked the hotel for June but couldn't make it due to several of our gang falling ill. The reservations guys were extremely kind enough to postpone our reservation at a call just the day before we were supposed to arrive. And that was also after several alterations we did previously to our booking. In the end they got us booked for September at the same rates. A BIG THANK YOU for that.....

The rooms were literally HUGE!!!. I've seldom seen such big bathrooms with massive wooden vanity tops and ample space to play mini golf or one-bump cricket :D. Except for one upstair room, all three others had both a bath tub and an open air shower. It was wood everywhere in the room and we were thinking about how many trees should have been fallen to build this place...

In our gang there were 4 families each having a toddler with us and we spent two days FB. They gave us a complementary tour to Kaudulla National Park where we witnessed a magnanimous amount of elephants, and sadly and even far number of safari jeeps.

They also offered a complementary spa treatment for all of the 8 adults which we've never seen elsewhere. We felt it might be a marketing gimmick as well because they should very well know that locals, especially travelling with families generally do not avail of such offers due to cultural issues. Nice gesture anyways from the hotel.

The buffet did not have much options but it was manageable and taste-wise was also OK. BUT!!! on our very first lunch on arrival, we were directed to a different buffet area, which was designated to outside visitors. The place was ill-lit, poorly air-conditioned and mostly, did not have many empty dishes with no food!!! We simply couldn't believe what we would be going through for the rest of our stay, but luckily it was our only such experience. Would have given 4 stars overall rating had not for this single but disastrous experience. We saw that some visitors were even demanding their money back as there was no food to consume....

Overall, was a great experience with nice and friendly staff who attend our needs promptly and courteously....

Room tip: Choose ground floor units wherever possible due to the bathroom deficiencies I've discussed.
