“Lovely quiet place”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

This is a lovely place to stay in a quiet area in Bendiwewa. The host was a lovely kind man who taught us how to eat with our hands and introduced us to the wonders of Sri Lankan breakfast! What a treat. The dinner is great - do ask for spicy curry and do ask for the every so excellent pol sambol (i.e. coconut sambal - a spicy condiment to accompany your curry and rice!). The rooms were clean and the airco worked perfectly. There is nothing around the hotel but then again a good book and a beer is all you need in the evening after a long day at Polunarawa.

Room Tip: They are all good as far as we could tell. Do request airco if you find the heat too much at night.

We stayed here for 1 night only in order to visit the historical sites in Polonnaruwa, which are a 5 min drive away. Our basic room was clean, bathroom quite new looking with warm showers. The service was friendly and food tasty. A curry and rice dinner here costs LKR 600 pp + 10% service charge. Sri Lanka in general was not as cheap as we expected...a big part of which was due to the big fees foreigners pay to enter all the national parks and historical sites (Polonnaruwa LKR 3250 pp). It did get quite hot in our non AC room, but the fan seemed to get us through the night. Mosquito nets cover the beds. Our driver was given accommodation for the night which we appreciated. Overall, a decent choice for short stays.

Stayed at Seyara Holiday Resort for one night. The hotel is owned and run by the family also residing in one portion of the resort. I had the best accommodation in Sri Lanka at Seyara.
The rooms are sparkling clean and comfortable with all the modern amenities. The food was delicious and the hospitality memorable!

This is a great stopover for a night to sigiriya or polonaruwa. Rooms are clean and the owner will do his best to make your stay comfortable. For the price you pay it is of good value with simple breakfast.

This is our second visit to Seyara Resort and again it was a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying stay. Although the place itself has had some changes since our last stay (including the addition of a new wing of rooms), it has retained its wonderfully warm and friendly hospitality. From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle, the owners and their family welcomed us like old friends and made us feel so relaxed and comfortable. We stayed fullboard in a comfortable triple room with a small but clean attached bathroom. All our meals were of generous proportions and simply delicious! The location is also good - just minutes from the main road, the ancient ruins and Parakrama Samudra tank. We also based our half day trip to Passekudah Bay from here (just 1 1/2 hour drive). We definitely recommend this place to others and are already planning our next visit!

I absolutely loved my stay here. The owners where incredibly hospitable and kind. They went above and beyond to help me out. As a female travelling on my own it makes the world of difference to meet people like this. They organise a great day for me seeing the ruins and taking me to an incredible place for lunch and then they drove me to kandy. The food was excellent and I felt like part of the family as opposed to just a guest. Thank you so much

This place is amazing. its not just the hotel that makes this an amazing place to stay but also the hospitality. The manager and his family were extremely friendly and very helpful. They made our stay very memorable. The food was also very good, we asked for a banana milkshake (not on menu), told them what was in it, and 5 minutes later we have them.
The rooms are a good size and clean. The manager also organised a tuk tuk driver for us for the whole day to take us round the ancient ruins. The driver was very friendly and knew all the best sites :)
We would be very happy to stay at this hotel again and definatly recommend this place for anyone that wants a home from home stay in polonnaruwa.
