I love the idea that countries that are not as fortunate invest their time and money to look after magnificent creatures like this. Unfortunately they have a long way to go, I feel that looking after their elephants are not their first priority.

We made it here on time to watch the elephants roaming freely in the water. Most of them here looked happy but sadly they don’t stay here, afterwards they get caged up after and that’s a different story.

Some elephants had heavy chains on them, it was a really hot day I cannot imagine how hot and heavy those chains were for those poor elephants! I couldn’t help noticing the keepers were carrying sharp pointy tools to help manage the elephants. No doubt they must use it.

We followed our guide to the other areas where the sick elephants were, they were chained in one spot and could not go anywhere, right next to them was their droppings. For me it was very disturbing to see.

This stop over was included in our tour, if we had a choice we would have skipped this. As an animal lover visiting this place did not give me hope, it made me very sad.

We can get see elephants shower in the river where we take photos. there are timetable that you can follow, eg milking time, feeding time, bathing time provided at the ticket counter.

In the area where they keep the elephants, you get to see where they feed and house the elephants.

Recommended for elephant lovers, and for taking photos

Manage your expectations (do not expect elephants to perform) as this is a foundation. It’s expensive (consider this as a donation) and probably used to manage the place.

It's a large place and there are quite a few Elephants. But the premises is not well maintained. Also you are not allowed any where near the Elephants or to feed them, unlike in some other Elephant safari's. Some of the Elephants were very restless and were grunting. Everything inside the souvenir shop is exorbitantly priced and not worth the buy. The place is not very impressive and if you been to other Elephant camps, then this is a big let down, as the entrance fee for foreigners is very high.

Apart from the Instagram worthy shots, this place seems like a money making attraction rather than an orphanage. There are better ways to donate your money and support these elephants. If you are looking for an alternative experience with the elephants, then I would suggest the safari.
