Kandy cottage was a great place to stay. It was nestled in the hills so it was rather quiet and the 2 gentleman working there arranged for transportation anywhere. Specialty food menus were made everyday for us and the chef spent hours preparing good home cooked food. To say the food was amazing is quite a understatement. The grounds were well tended to and everything was clean.

If I ever make it back to Kandy I would look no further than Kandy Cottage.

Even though Kandy Cottage is a short walk from Kandy itself, its location makes it an ideal place to relax and get away from it all. Tobi couldn't have been more helpful with onward planning and contacts, travel arrangements and information about Sri Lankan culture. Thomas prepared excellent meals and looked after us extremely well. Would definitely recommend the cottage as a place to stay.

Our second trip to Kandy within two years. On this occasion, we wanted to stay in a small establishment, within walking distance of the center of the city, and the main sights. The cottage has an old world charm about it, the rooms are basic, very clean, and yes it might be a challenge for some to walk up the hill. We had a wonderful time time staying here. Tobi, his wife Christine, and children, were staying there also for a few days, which created a wonderful warm family atmosphere.
Christine cooked the main meals that we had there, and what a culinary delight (and yes my wife did buy a cook book with Sri Lankan recipes from a book shop in Kandy) Additionally we were invited to have input on what was proposed for these meals.
Tobi is very friendly, helpful and committed to providing quality service. We were provided with much historical, religious, cultural and touristy information. Tobi sourced out a gym frequented by the locals for me to go to during our stay there, which was an interesting experience.
Accordingly, on the basis of the wonderful experience that we had at Kandy Cottage, I would recommend staying there.

Firstly, this is a really serene and beautiful place on the fringe of the jungle that is a very minimal colonial style house with gorgeous polished concrete floors and bathrooms and white walls. It was delightfully secluded and quiet in a lush setting away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy. Thomas is a really fun and attentive host and incredibly helpful. He provided us with absolutely delicious food and lots of it which was a big hit with us hungry devils. We only stayed there one night and the other house guests staying there were very friendly and also loved the place. We didn't explore the city very much as we had been travelling quite a lot and we didn't really want to leave the peaceful ambience of the house. It was only a 10 min stroll into the centre of town so easy to get there and away. There was also a very friendly dog on the premises which kept the wild boars from coming into the garden at night times so there was the occasional fit of barking. Lol

Room Tip: Taller guests may want to try other rooms as the 'creative space' had a slightly short bed...

My friends and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Kandy Cottage, a world in its own amidst the hustle and bustle of the main city. We certainly could not have been in better hands, with Thomas and Mani dishing out amazing food and hospitality all along! A special note of gratitiude to our fantastic Tobi, who guided us throughout our tour in SriLanka. To every one of you visiting Kandy, please take our word, this place will guarantee what you need in a vacation - Peace of mind at its tranquil best!!

A short distance from the hustle and bustle of Kandy, on top of the hill lies Kandy cottage in all it's quaint glory. Amazing food, awesome facilities and people who make you feel so much at home just add to the entire Sri Lanka experience. To top it all is the fact that its located just outside a nature reserve but is only 20 min downhill walk to the center of Kandy. You will need to get a Tuktuk back up the hill if you are travelling late evening, but that does not take anything away from the experience. We had a ball of a time there although it was very short. Tobi and Co. were simply fantastic in their hospitality. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling to Kandy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kandy Cottage and were so well looked after by Thomas and Mani who could not have been more helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable and our ensuite bathroom excellent. Sadly we did not have dinner but breakfast was delicious and Mani also showed us how to make hoppers. The location is really peaceful and only a 15 minute walk to the Temple of the Tooth. The wifi was very quick and we enjoyed relaxing in the sitting area.
