It’s opposite the “ temple of tooth “ . If you want to experience the beauty of the colonial time in Sri Lanka and kandian Hospitality, this is the perfect place .
Walking distance to many beautiful places in kandy and a very safe place to stay.

This is a very old hotel ...... you can almost feel that someone in white cotton gloves is going to serve your High Tea! All the wood floors and polished and the lovely brass fittings shining to dazzle your eyes. With that said and done our room comes with Aircon, On Suit, comfy bed, bedding, pillows and masses of towels, a great shower and view of the pool! The hotel was built in the era of Victoria and the grandeur of the time and is under going renovations to bring it up to date - non of the reno's interfered with our stay and it was wonderful to know that this amazing old building was going to continue. Staff, as always in Sri Lanka, were fabbie. Everything as clean as a whistle and service broad and fulfilling! If you're in Kandy book in and enjoy or come along for luncheon, high tea and enjoy the step back in time.

Stayed one night. Quick check-in, the rooms were nice, quiet and with a comfy bed. Good wifi & aircondition. Very close to the temple of the tooth and the lake. A very grand-type hotel, we could feel it's history. Breakfast was good. They had extra security in the door, and checked our luggage before bringing it up to the rooms. Felt very safe. Very polite and nice staff.
Stayed here for 1 night during the Perahera festival. Place could not be faulted in terms of location, had a seat at the front of the hotel to view the festival. With regards to the hotel itself, staff were pleasant however rooms a bit dated, breakfast mediocre. Would recommend if you want a central location for the sights of Kandy.
We spent a day on FB basis. This was fourth or fifth visit to this hotel; the last being over 30 years ago. Not changed much.
Not bad for a Hotel built 1844. Very conveniently located in the heart of the town.
The rooms were clean. However the room lighting was poor. There were only 2 local TV channels and that too not clear.
Rooms and Public Areas need to be brightened up.
The food was below mediocre and very bland.
