“Great balcony location, awful traffic noise”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

We stopped for a couple of beers before getting food elsewhere. Nice balcony overlooking the main road which meant that there was constant noise however there is an inside which is pleasant enough. Good place for a draft pint.

“Kandy's answer to Raffles Bar?”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Tongue in cheek but really has that colonial ambiance. All the drinks you could think of at reasonable prices. Table service but let down a little by smoking still being allowed inside. Still worth a visit if only for a quick one..

“Nice place to eat”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

If you want to find a good place to eat western food, come here. Especially salad and pasta, they are very nice! If you don't like cigarette's smoke, you'd better sit inside and watch oldies music or live concert videos. If you don't mind, a balcony outside is good to have some drinks and food while seeing passing-by people and cars.

“Balcony, beer and banal music”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

This is one of the few drinking establishments (other than hotel bars) in sacred Kandy. One room has a big screen devoted to cricket matches, and in the main dining area another big screen shows music concerts. (One of the two nights I was there, an old TV special featuring Yanni was on.) I had some grilled fish (seer), and it wasn't bad. The main draw is the balcony, which affords an excellent view of the chaos below: sputtering tuk-tuks, crammed buses, pedestrians, zooming scooters and cars, all jostling for every spare inch of tarmac. A dude in a blue blazer may take a table next to yours and whip out a wooden flute and play the theme from "The Godfather," and follow that with the Carpenters' "Rainy Days and Mondays" and a Sri Lankan take on "La Cucaracha." It's an amusing alternative to the hotel/guest house scene. The only negative are the Euro tourists who hold their cigarettes aloft and as far from their heads as they can get them, letting the smoke drift into your face.
