We stayed 2 nights. Found staff generally good and helpful. Room and facilities were nice. It is not 5 star!! However could be placed at higher end of what's available in Kandy. It's a beautiful setting but therein lies the problem. It isn't up to being classed as a good self contained resort. Lacking dining and activities options. It's located well away from Kandy center so it's quite a trip by tuk tuk if you want to go out to eat or see sights. There's nothing within walking distance or relatively nearby. Breakfast buffet is served in open air reception area near to pool. This creates hygiene issues with flies and keeping food fresh and safe in warm to hot environment given how long it sits there. Overall gave a better rating than we would if we did not make allowance for Kandy.

Stayed here recently and easily one of the worst hotels ever. A truly terrible stay was compounded by the blase, rude and uncaring behaviour of the hotel manager. Had a very nasty experience with one of the staff members that resulted in the Police being called. The manager was abhorrent, didn't care and was more interested in talking about the hotel renovations (that made the stay very noisy) than worrying about his clearly distressed and upset customers. No follow up from the manager whatsoever! Thinking about this hotel gives me the creeps!!!! Awful!!!

My partner & I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April this year. I would not recomend staying at this hotel. Unfortunately I had a very bad experience in the spa at this hotel & when we approached the manager the attitude we received was less than satisfactory. Both my partner & I were very upset & the manager treated us with no respect or courtesy. We were both so distressed we spent the night in our room without going for dinner & checked out as soon as we could the following day. The guests of a hotel should feel safe & looked after whilst staying there & we did not feel that way. He made no attempts with regards to my welfare & in fact disappeared to hide in his office until we checked out the next day. There are plenty of other places to stay in Kandy.

A very nice place to stay in with small children

Rooms are very comfortable and beds are very comfortable.

Good food

Great pools

And the brilliant Lankan hospitality.

But 2 nights should be more than enough as not much to do in the resort beyond that.

The reception area has low ceiling and that doesn't give you a good feeling.

But no other complaints beyond this

This place is a disaster. Staff were rude, we were placed in a smoking room when we asked for no smoking, then staff argued with us over this. Then we were placed in a damp, smelly room, while we waited we ordered lunch which was steak sandwich. It was dry, overlooked, full of fat and gristle. During our stay there were two weddings organised at the hotel, this meant other guests were pushed out of the dinning area and all had to eat in temporary area. Things got worse and worse. At dinner I was given a survey to fill in about our stay, I filled it in honestly and the waiter came back with the survey and began arguing with me over what I had written. He was aggressive and seemed scared because the survey was not good. Finally on the last morning, I had 50,000rp stolen from my wallet, which should have been in the safe, but was still in a locked hotel room. The management of this hotel will argue that it is 5 star, I have travelled for many years and this is far from a 5 star hotel. Give it a miss. Oh also wifi was a joke, they say they have it, but it never works.

Room Tip: We ended up on 5 floor where at least rooms were not damp and musty.

Firstly, this hotel was rated as 5 star, it is more like a 3 star hotel. Maybe back in the 1980s it was a a high rating hotel, but not now. It is in need of a very good make over, especially the deluxe rooms. These rooms had chips in the walls, holes where electricity sockets once were. The decor was old and outdated.
It all began when we arrived and after waiting for someone to collect our bags from the car we were taken to the lobby. I found the ladies at reception quite rude and a bit arrogant, they were not impressed that the passports were in our luggage and I could not access them till later. We were then taken to a smoking room but requested a non smoking room, then rudely the reply was your agent did not tell us and the other rooms are not ready. At this stage I was feeling unsure and uncomfortable about this place. We waited for another room and decided to have some lunch. The steak sandwich was very fatty and full of gristle and did not come with sauce as it stated. The second deluxe room was again in bad shape for a 5 star. After mentioning this we were eventually upgraded to their presidential suite. This was better, but not a suite of a 5 star. A top room usually has a good view, not this one and again outdated.
Other things that occurred or were noticeable during our stay-
-Old soft springy beds
-Very Slow internet to no internet in rooms, but better in garden area
-Temperamental hot water to no hot water after one shower
-Musty, Smelly old rooms
-Not a 5 star hotel with holes in walls, water leaks in plaster
-Rooms need upgrading before the spa
To end the stay we were give a survey after dinner, then questioned why we had given particular responses. But Charinda was a very good and efficient waiter- thank you. On checking out we were charged for the the dry lunch after telling the manager about it and my husband realised that he had money missing from his wallet. We could not wait to get out of the place. My husband and I are quite well travelled and know the expectations of a 4-5 star hotel.

We got the presidential suite and from the moment we entered the hotel premises we were pampered

The check in was fast, very courteous and were shown to 508.

The room greeted us with a complimentary fruit basket and flowers and our bags arrived instantly.

The property is beautiful, resembles Park Hyatt in Goa.

The bartender was a weirdo though and don't order off the menu, he makes crappy mojitos. The other cocktail which we asked for was good. The service is excellent and everyone smiles and you are greeted by the person who cleans the fish tank to the manager.

The dinner buffet spread is decent , could be better but overall I found that buffet is not that great all across Sri Lanka so stick onto Alacarte

The in room service was prompt, there were Koreans who had taken the other suite and they were disturbing us with their shouting and loud banging. We informed the reception and they took care of it immediately and then called back asking if we were being disturbed by them.

A Recommended place to stay and I can guarantee it that you and your family would have an amazing time here .

Cheers
