We took a tuktuk to the Tea Museum in the hills outside Kandy in January. The museum is based on several floors and shows all the machines which have been used in the processing of tea. You have a chance to try the teas and can also purchase them but they are not at all pushy. Very good short visit and recommended stop

The museum is of course something to visite when in Kandy. But do not have too high expectations; it is rather basic.
There is a guide presenting if you want to with good knowledge, but rather uninspiring. Surprisingly our guide did not know how green tea is processed.
A the end you get the opportunity to taste some tea, this is also very basic and no guidance on what tea to try.
This could be so much more, but any way worth visiting.

Very informative about the history of tea in Sri Lanka, and you also get a nice cuppa on the top floor cafe!Had a lovely guide who gave a very knowledgable explanation of all the machinery. As we are involved in the tea business it was great to learn about the tea history of Sri Lanka.

Spent about an hour at The Mackwoods Plantation and it brought back school day memories of learning about where tea comes from!
Very interesting to go into the factory where the smell of tea was quite overpowering-glad I don't have to work there!
Most of the pickets are still women and still get paid according to how much they pick
Worth a vist
