“Great Place”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

We stayed at Anna Shanthi Villa for 2 nights during our visit to Kandy. We were warmly greted by the hotel owner who consistently looked after us and was welcoming during our stay. The location is good, very close to the lake and they have their own tuk tuk to drop you places if needs be. The owner recommended a great place to eat and we had a lovely first evening. The room was clean and bathroom very new, although being close to residential homes it was quite noisy at night, i was glad i had ear plugs with me!

Otherwise, great hotel, very friendly, well priced and well located. Would stay again

Room Tip: Try to be further away from the kitchen as it is noisy in the mornings

This a very nice and friendly guest house that lays a lot of emphasis on client satisfaction. The place is being run by a couple, the lady Australian national of Italian descent and her husband originally from Kandy and now resident in Australia. There are 6 rooms including a couple of family rooms. The beds are comfortable; the linen and towels fresh and clean; the toilet good. The toiletries were very basic - just a small piece of soap and a shower cap. All rooms are fitted with a DVD payer and an LCD screen. Take some DVDs with you if you would like to relax watching a movie at the end of a tiring day. The movie collection at the hotel is no good. Kandy being the seat of the sacred tooth relic is generally a quiet town - everything in the town closes up pretty early. If you are in Kandy for Cricket - this is a good location - just a 10-12 minute drive. A three wheeler may charge you Rs. 500. It is close enough to the city centre too. They serve a good English breakfast complete with a good selection of fruit. I would say the only down side is that there are no spectacular views ( nothing in fact) - but if you fancy an early morning walk round the Kandy lake it is not too far away.

Will I stay there again - yes, if the price holds.

We had a great stay for four nights at Anna Shanti. The owner and his staff are fantastic. They made us feel welcomed and helped us in so many ways. The first night they recommended a great restaurant, the next night berated a Tuk Tuk driver for overcharging us and booked a nice excursion to Pinawela the third day. The villa is located up a hill from the top of Kandy lake. We walked to the temple of the tooth on numerous days. Tuk tuks were available at the bottom of the hill. All in all a great stay.

My extended family and I stayed at the Anna Shanthi Villa for 4 nights during the Kandy Perahera. The accommodation at this place was fantastic. The owner happened to be visiting during our stay, and he was always so eager to offer excellent advice and suggestions to us, given that it was our first visit to Kandy.

The housekeeping staff were also exceptional. Nothing was too much of a chore for them to undertake to accommodate our needs. The property is akin to traditional Italian "Pensione" style guest houses. Excellent value for money. The only issue we could fault the property on was the fact that the hot water for the shower had a tendency to expire rather quickly.

I would definitely recommend this place to future travellers.

Good value, comfortable. We had the twin bedroom at the front. The bathroom was lovely, almost new with losts of shiny white tiles - very clean. Beds were comfy, air con plus fan. A short walk to the lake so it was easy to walk into town and to the Temple of the Tooth.

We were the only couple staying at the time. The staff were fantastic and really helpful . The rooms are big and spotless . The housekeeper prepared a Sri Lankan curry for dinner, it was one of the better curries we had during our 3 week stay in Sri Lanka.
It's a quite location about 5 minutes by Tuk Tuk to the centre of Kandy
Highly recommended

I stayed at the B&B for 7 nights at the end of June, based on reviews from Trip Advisor and I wasnt disappointed. The B&B was spotlessly clean and the service excellent. Food and tea/coffee/soft drinks were available on demand and the housekeeper provided lovely meals. The staff couldnt be friendlier or more accomodating, and as I was having trouble with my mobile, was able to use the computer for constant emailing. While in Sri Lanka I observed other hotels and was delighted with my choice. Would highly recommend!!

Room Tip: All rooms appeared to be of equal size.
