Small entrance fee has to be paid, in the temple is not much to see but has a nice Buddhistic book shop next to the big white statue of the lord Buddha. You can climb the stairs in the back of the statue to have amazing views over Kandy city and the lake. No shoes in the temple.

One can’t get a good photo close up because of all the power/telephone cables...

Well worth a visit to this amazing Buddah statue, with its rather poignant memorial to the Tsunami victims.
