Unfortunately, it was not easy to go for a walk without being disturbed by strange (mentally sick??) men. Twice we were followed by old men who kept talking to us even if we did not answer him at all.Tell the people straight away that you want to be alone and do not want to be disturbed! Be careful if you are female and travel alone.

I loved this lake situated right beside the kandy tooth temple. Literally teeming with a thousand fishes with several diferent kinds of ducks and birds flocking all around the lake side, spending time here is a delight for any nature/animal lover! They have plenty of seats constructed all around the lake for pedestrians to sit for a while and soothe their tired feet. Unlike most attractions in Sri Lanka which charge a hefty amount for entrance, this one's free of cost!

You'll see this lake at some point on your visit, it's a central location in Kandy. Lovely at sunset

Perfect location for a romantic walk around an ornate man-made lake. The lake is completely encircled with a bund of ornate concrete structures of ancient Kandyan design (See Photos). The closure of the road going past the Temple of the Tooth has significantly increased traffic around the lake, so traffic noise can distract from the tranquility of the lake. If you walk during the evening hours, watch for birds returning to roost on the many trees that surround the lake, but you can become a victim to their incessant defecation! Don't miss the several water birds who make this lake their home (see photo). .

While enjoying your walk, say a thank you to the many who built this lake nearly 200+ years ago. According to the historians, the lake was built under much opposition and with forced labor under harsh conditions.
