a hard to miss place in Kandy , since the city has got its beauty because of this beautify lake in the middle of it. Don't forget to throw in some food(bread) for the fish in the lake (don't know its allowed now) .

Kandy is a very popular destination for the visitors of Sri Lanka and as oppose to usual belif, it is so easy to reach there from Colombo.

Kandy is about 116 KM from Colombo and takes about 2 and half hour travel time.

There is a train at 7:00am from Fort station in Colombo which very conveniently drops you at Kandy station by 9:15am. A second class ticket cost only 350 Rupees. Alternatively, you may consider taking mini buses operated by tour operators around Fort stations area, which cost little more but leaves to Kandy almost every 45 minutes.

Unlike popular belif, it is very easy to reach Kandy from Colombo.

Lal was our tour driver for over a week, starting from Kandy and finishing in Trincomalee. We found Lal to be a safe driver, cheerful, courteous and helpful. He speaks good English. He was a good source of information. He has good knowledge of Sri Lanka. We found him particularly helpful regarding the ancient city, telling us about some of the history.

I would not hesitate to recommend Lal when touring Sri Lanka.
