Walking along the shores of this artificial lake is a nice experience. Although it gets a little bit noisy when you get closer to the clocktower and to the heart of the city. The lauout of the kale makes it a centerpiece in the City. there seems to be little island on the lake and you can spot many birds.

Although we did not visit the lake per-say, but we could not help but see this monumental lake from the Temple of the Tooth, our hotel and whilst travelling to and from the town. This has to be one of the wonders of mans ability to manipulate the land for our own use with out modern machinery.

It is worth to visit kandy for the tooth festival. Roads will be loaded with the locals and tourists and so before the action begins one should reserve a place in one of the premises on the parade route. The lake is a good place for a stroll. A cement footpath dotted with benches encircles the lake and is a favorite venue for early-evening strolls. Majority of the hotels around the lake is operated by Muslims with halal cut food. This lake is not good for swimming or bathing. Well enough to enjoy the scenic beauty for an evening. The best time to visit either early morning or by sun set

Nice for a stroll to imbibe the beauty of the ancient city of Kandy, along a wooded drive way and nice scenery right round and of course smiling people who really acknowledge your presence.

We walked around the lake twice and have some great views looking back at sunset.
We saw at least 10 different types of birds. Lizards, turtles etc.
A very nice way to earn your drink in the evening
