We opted for this Sri Lankan home as we prefer a real Sri Lankan home experience after almost all the good hotels are fully booked because of the Esala Perahera Festival (happening on July and AUgust).
We got lost going up to the hill to find the hotel as our driver/guide has never brought visitors there yet. So Pathi, the man who manages the house, is quite helpful by calling our driver/guide from time to time until we reached the place.
We were greeted by Pathi and his wife (which i'm so sorry, i forgot her name!)and welcomed us with king coconut drinks and showed us our room. We regret that we need to go back to town soon as we needed to secure our seats for the festival early (as they will close the roads and will be difficult for parking) coz Pathi and his wife offered us to teach Sri Lankan home cooking :(
Then Pathi said, maybe we can just have drinks when we come back. But unfortunately, the festival ended at 11pm and our driver/guide didn't call Pathi that we are on our way back so he wasn't there when we arrived. The next morning, they prepared us a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast which is really good.
The house has only 4 bedrooms, and Pathi and his family stays few steps from the house. AT that time, we were just the only visitor, so we felt we own the whole 4-bedroom house hehehe. Our room has very clean linens and bathroom with tub and has a good view on top of the hill. THERE IS NO AIRCON btw, but it was cool enough with the ceiling fan as it is on top of the hill anyway.
This is a good house if you are staying longer in Kandy. I feel that our stay is not enough. We promised Pathi that when we come back to Kandy, we will stay longer ;)
