We stayed here with friends from home and absolutley loved it. We booked our friends the Suite (totally recommend this for the extra cost, it is definitely worth it) and we stayed in the Standard room, which meant that we could enjoy the private suite balcony with them for meals. The standard room is more than ample if you are on a budget. The linen is crisp and clean, the bathroom completely fine (though yes, a shower curtain/screen would help stop the water going onto the floor), the furnishings beautifully local. The Suite is HUGE, and lavish. Great views of Kandy, lovely furnishings. Perfect for a family as there are two little single beds that don't impede on the space at all.
The service was so genuine. Sure, there is the occasional misunderstanding, but it is really not a big deal. The staff try so incredibly hard to make their guests happy, and the managers are quite reasonable and flexible with negotiating packages and prices. The food is great. We can recommend the Sri Lankan meal here anyday.
This is probably the most comfortable 'home-stay' I've experienced so far. If coming into Kandy by train, don't try to walk here. It is at the top of a huge hill that a packed 3-wheeler will struggle with. But the view is oh-so-worth the trek up.More
