This place is advertised as 500m from the temple of the tooth. Perhaps if you are a crow flying. It is about a 15-20 minute walk (via dark lanes and a main road). But dont let that put you off! The rooms are good, tuktuks can take you to and from Queens Hotel (really the centre of town) in 5 minutes for 200Rs, service is friendly, views are pretty good, they have beer, and it's great value for money. The walk is also fine during the day but will irritate you if you do it more than twice or at night. Nature Walk is a popular place and with good reason.

This is a lovely clean hostel, in a nice quite location yet in the town with a wonderful breakfast served by lovely cheerful guys, it is close enough to town to walk to the temple of the tooth, the lake, the milatery cemetery which is very interesting if you get talking to the caretaker & he is very grateful of a donation for its up keep. if arriving by train or bus get a tuk tuk cost 250 rup. they can arrange anything and everything at the hostel for you, evening food is good also or Devon restraunt in town is nice also, but closes early. We spent five nights in Nature Walk, ask for a front facing room when booking as the views are amazing and get the a/e rooms if you can afford it, they are much bigger.

Room Tip: bring you own toiletries as guesthouses/some hotels in sri lanka don not provide these.

Although they are called a hostel they really aren't and they actually are even better than a budget hotel. Rooms are clean, comfortable and simply decorated. Staff are accomodating and it is well located 10 minute walk from the Tooth Temple in a quiet hill side location with lovey views. We only stayed one night but have happily stayed loger.

Room Tip: Haggle for any Taxis/drivers

We spent two nights at this guesthouse on mid-October 2011.
We had a room in the third floor. It is large and clean. Air condition very good. Large bath and toilet room. The bed is comfortable. Don't leave anything on the balcony, the monkeys will take it... It would help if the room had a small closet.
The food (breakfast and dinner) very good. Especially dinners were delicious. The stuff friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi available, just ask the owner to turn it on if it's off.
It is a bit far from town centre, but the view from the balcony is great.

We had a lovely balcony room and it was lovely to sit in the mornings and evenings and enjoy the view over Kandy. There is a lot of traffic noise in Kandy itself, so we were really happy we chose to stay in a location just outside of town where we couldn't hear the traffic and horns honking. A three-wheeler ride from center of town to the hotel will run you about 100 to 200 rupees, which is about one or two US dollars, so if you get tired you can easily just ride instead of walking.
We did discover that there is a cultural show just next door at 5:30 in the evening so if you need absolute quiet it might disturb you. But we found it a hoot to hear the drumming and even got to wave at some of the gorgeous dancers on their breaks!

We did see some monkeys but they were not a problem at all. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. You can use the computer in the downstairs lobby to print out boarding passes etc for free and there is also free wifi. Evidently Nature Walk, although it's a fairly new hotel, is already very well known and highly regarded in Kandy, and even one of the travel agents in Colombo said I would love it, so we were happy we chose the right place. The bed was very good, the room smallish but large enough to walk comfortably around, and we had no problems with hot water at all. Breakfast is ok, nothing special, eggs fruit, toast and tea or coffee. Hopefully I will be back in Kandy some day and I will definitely choose Nature Walk again!

Room Tip: Go for the balcony!

We stayed at this guesthouse for 1 night on our 2 day tour to Kandy and Dambulla. What a great find. Nice location, friendly staff and beautiful views from their terraces (and our room also, but some rooms do not have such a nice views). The terraces can be used by any guests and we enjoyed very much couple of beers and some coffee whilst watching monkeys. The rooms are basic but clean and good size.
The Temple of Tooth is just 10 minutes walk away.
Breakfast is basic but filling. Bread, jam, eggs and tea or coffee.
If I was going to Kandy, I would definitely book this place for my stay.
