stayed 2 nights here last week and it was great! room was clean, beds were comfy and hot water readily available with satisfactory water pressure. we had a view of the street and surprisingly it wasn't noisy at night at all. location is also pretty central with the tooth temple/lake within walking distance.

the owner and staff were very friendly. breakfast (Rs 450/pax) was pretty standard - fruit, toast with homemade jams and eggs done to your preference. delicious but would suggest eating at one of the numerous shops nearby instead if you wish to taste authentic sri lankan cuisine.

overall a very satisfactory place, well worth the price. would definitely stay here again if i visit kandy!

Room Tip: remember to choose a room with hot water!!

Run by a very friendly and helpful family, the Sevana guesthouse was excellent value.

The lady running the house offered us a wealth of valuable advice about Kandy (such as transport to the Botanical Gardens and Pinnewala, how to avoid the touts, moving on to elsewhere in Sri Lanka) and was able to sell tickets to the Kandyan dancing show (allowing you to further avoid the touts).

Breakfast was great and there is free wi-fi too. The rooms were very clean and simple, although our room didn't have any exterior windows. They are very quiet however and you can barely hear the noise of the street outside.

Although the location is very central, there aren't the views off the lake that I believe some other guesthouses may have. However the lake, Temple of the Tooth, bus and train stations are all within easy walking distance.

We stayed for one night only and had no dinner or beeakfast at the guesthouse.
Here are our pros and cons:

Pros:
-location. Only a 15 min walk / 100 rupies drive to the temple of the tooth
- clean towels, sheets, floors etc
- free wifi from 7am to 10pm but signal is low in the rooms
- very very friendly owners

Cons:
- our first room (number 10) was covered in mold
Our second room (number 8) had this really strong weird smell
- overpriced

Overall a good place to stay. We've seen better and worse places during our 5 months stay in SL.
It was clean! The location was good. Weird smell and a little overpricedl.. But oh well :)

I stayed here twice during my stays in Kandy for the T20 matches. Excellent guesthouse with a great breakfast, especially the home made pineapple marmalade. Both rooms I stayed in we're comfortable, clean and spacious.

This is a family run guesthouse, and you really feel like family when staying here. The owners are so nice and helpful, and the food is amazing. The guesthouse is in a central location, and it's really easy to get around to the sites you want to see. After staying in two other guesthouses in Sri Lanka, this felt like heaven. The room was well-maintained and exceptionally clean. The internet didn't reach the room, but we did get wi-fi in the sitting area down the hall. I can't say enough good things about this guesthouse! Stay here!

Room Tip: We stayed in an A/C room with hot water and balcony. It was facing the road, but there wasn't mu...

had the non ac room with balcony and it was fine for the price (about 12 quid)

room was clean and bathroom about standard for the price range. guesthouse is an ideal base for people wanting to spend a few days in kandy on a budget - 5 mins from the bus station, and 10 min walk to the lake, temple of the tooth etc

wifi worked fine in my room - they say they turn it off at 10pm, but I asked if I could have it kept on later, and they just showed me where to switch it off when I'd finished with it

very helpful and friendly staff too
