We stayed at the lake bungalow for one night. It is one of the most charming bunglow set in the heart of Kandy. We were welcomed by the daughter of the lady who runs the home (unfortunately did not remember her name). The house is 150 years old and is full of antique furniture and memories.
We took two rooms for the night. One room was within the main house on the ground floor, the room had a four poster bed, we felt like we had been transported into an English bedroom circa 1930's. It had a bathroom attached with all the modern amenities.
The other bedroom was on the top floor of the house. Be warned for those who do not travel light, one has to drag their bags up two floors to make it to their bedroom. We had hoped that we could view the lake from the bedroom but none of the rooms have that view because of trees. Also the room does not have an AC but my wife and I did not mind as the weather was very pleasant.
We also chose to have breakfast there the next morning for $5. I would strongly urge you to part with this minimum sum for a lovely breakfast which included - yoghurt, fruit, pancakes, curry, rice, toast ,eggs of your choice, butter, marmalade, treacle ( fairly sure I have forgotten some other dishes), the owner of the home stay also came and spoke to us, she is a lovely old lady who is so polite and warm. If all this has not already convinced you, there is more. They have a gorgeous dog named Pheobe, who just stole our heart, she was so well behaved and affectionate we did not want to leave her, added to that they have 5 pet turtles! Which we can find and play with (if your lucky because they are tricky to find in the garden fauna)
All in all, we loved our stay at Kandy. Two things that made this place so very special was the Kandy Lake and the Lake Bungalow
