“Wonderful service and a nice stay.”
Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

The woman who runs this place is incredibly helpful and makes your stay very nice. The rooms were big and clean, with a rooftop restaurant and a decent view of Kandy. A little bit up a hill and out but this meant good views. Overall a good experience.

The Majestic Tourist Hotel is about a 250 rupee tuk-tuk ride from thr city centre around the Kandy lake and up the mountain side, but since finding reasonable accommodation in the city centre is next to impossible the location isn't bad. The views from the rooms and the breakfast area are stunning and make it worthwhile.

The bathroom was large and clean. The bedrooms were also of a reasonable size but the beds are so hard it's difficult to get a good night's sleep! They have AC and a fan as well as mosquito nets, although we gave the nets a miss as they smelled terrible! There's also a nice little balcony. There was some weird mould on the wall though and the furniture is outdated.

The owners are friendly, but not overly present. They provide a washing service, in line with costs at most Western hostels. The free breakfast was simple but did the job.

If you're looking for a budget hotel and don't mind a very hard bed, this is a great option.

Absolutely breathtaking views. The breeze is cool and soothing. We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our trip.Awesome neat rooms.Wifi was good and free.

The staff was so amazing. The manager Mrs.Kumari Jecob is very pleasant and the owner Mr.Joseph Jecob is very helpful.Breakfast was good.We have to wait couple of minutes after ordering the dinner, because they cook it freshly.

Nothing to complaint.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The room was huge and clean, with a small balcony (no chairs but good for drying laundry). The location is away from town (maybe a 5 minute drive) but it's very quiet with a nice view of the hills. There is a fan but no a/c (although we didn't find it hot in March) and no TV. The bathroom is the usual 'wet room' and quite large, plenty of hot water. Wifi is only available on the rooftop terrace/ dining room.

Breakfast was the standard SL fare - "omlette", toast with butter/jam, tea/coffee, and juice. We had dinner at the hotel and the prices were normal and the food was good. The woman running the place is very friendly and helpful.

We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony because it has a nicer view (of the hills).

This is purely budget accommodation who can not pay more. Rooms are neat and clean. The Hotel is little away from the main attractions. You need to have vehicle to reach this hotel. Avoid taking food in this hotel.Rates are very high .Very limited menu breakfast(complimentary)is served. Restaurant located on the roof and from here you can have good view of the nature.
Main disadvantage at this hotel is ,food available at the restaurant is very costly and no restaurants are available nearby. Ensure that you finish your dinner at the end of the day before reaching the hotel.
